Usually I just tend to role my eyes at the blatant female objectification in western and kpop MV's alike because it happens so much I've almost become numb to it...... but something about this made me SUPREMELY uncomfortable and I can't quite put my finger on why???
Like, this was somehow worse than Blurred Lines for me and I legit didn't think that was possible O_O
I don't get the "it's not ok in Korea" way of thinking. Artists in the US put out sexual videos all the time and it's not a big deal. He's grown and the lyrics are not bad either.
I am not for the objectification of woman at all but after watching this twice I couldn't help but laugh. It, by far, isn't the most offensive kpop video I have seen recently but at the same time it was childish and a little bit uncomfortable. Listening to just the music this song is awesome but the video I think just went for shock value not actual taste. They could have definitely taken this a different way and made it great.
On the one hand I think this video could be a way to distance him from his running man image but on the other hand it could be a way to poke fun at the serious rap image.
The song does sound nice imo (still have to look up the lyrics but I'm a little scared b/c that might change things as well) but damn, Gary. This is also so frustrating b/c I quite like the Zotto Molla MV and the way the cameraman worked with shadows in it; and I think it's so cool how that is in black and white and this one is full of such vibrant colours. BUT ... I'm thinking about what makes me most uncomfortable and I think it's the fact that this is not just your usual objectifying bullshit but that every single one of the girls is also pressing their boobs together and towards the camera (same goes for butts, etc.), I can't even look at it. I thought the few more 'subtle' gestures in there were really nice and conveyed the feel of the song pretty well but I'm probably really just looking for things to like b/c I was really looking forward to him doing this solo thing. Obviously more things than can be named are wrong with this and I personally just find it sad and disappointing.
honestly i rly like the song and the lyrics are kinda sweet in a way... but this video is so offbase like. for real. it doesn't even match what the song was about??? i'm so confused?? why gary

edit : do people actually watch it until the end? because as much as i agree it's pretty gross and uber cheap how girls are used in the video we can't say it's only a foreign/white girls thing, i see asian girls too? yo?
