f(x) Beats Shinhwa, EXO, SHINee With Most ‘M COUNTDOWN’ Votes in 2013

According to the year-end data, f(x), who returned in 2013 year with Rum Pum Pum Pum picked up 16.4 percent of the total M COUNTDOWN votes cast in the year, while Shinhwa followed in a close second with 15.1 percent of total votes for hit This Love.

Kim Hyun Joong, who made a welcome comeback with Your Story ranked third on the list, garnering 9.3 percent of the total votes cast in 2013.

EXO and SHINee, who were on fire this year with hit single after hit single, ranked in fourth and fifth place, respectively, ending the year with 6.5 percent and 5.4 percent of the total votes each.

Meanwhile, Teen Top, Big Bang’s Seungri, Infinite, 2PM, Super Junior-M’s Henry also performed well on the charts, ranking in the top ten of highest percentage of total M COUNTDOWN votes.

2013 was a great year for them. Popularity definitely went up and then all the critical acclaim. They're on of the better Kpop groups and I'm glad it's starting to sink in with a bigger audience.

They've been at this long enough to be even slightly together for performances and if it would entertain you to watch them sway like dried out blades of grass in the breeze, they should get their own solo concert. Almost a five year old group and they're still trash who can get VOTES and not money or their own concert. Where's my confetti, y'all? EDIT: I forgot that it's 2014 so they are working on their sixth year as a basic group.

i do think they have alot of casual fans though, most girl groups do. the only girl group that have a super dedicated fanbase is snsd (and maybe 2ne1, but since they haven't released an album for years it's hard to judge).

bc exo and growl's promo timing heavily shafted them of their wins. a lot of f(x) fans were pissed since they mostly were coming in second but losing to exo.

f(x) is different than any other girl group out there and its really unfair when they get compared all the time.

They are not cared for in their company, and their management is shitty, but they still win through tbh. You can see it in their albums and work. They may not be the brightest (happy terms) but they still work hard. Also, it must be hard when the people you work for don't give a single flying flack about you, and the concerts you get are as a decoration for EXO (saying this as and EXO fan). Their music is AMAZING. Pink Tape was the best album of the year imo.

Personally, I really like these girls, they are the most realistic group in kpop. They have good fans too. With a little more interest from their company, they could be even more known than SNSD and better.

I've always thought f(x) has it pretty good. In SM they're that one group that constantly gets to put out good music (yes, I thought RPPP was stellar) and be acknowledged for their music. They're popular cf models they do dramas, films and just stay chic and aloof and unattainable. And they never seem to have to hassle and do all these degrading stuff as some (most) of their label mates do. Instead they do SXSW and shoot a reality show in New Zealand(?). Is not too bad, is it?

Most fans seem to think that f(x) is like it is because SM doesn't care and has given up. On the contrary, it seems to me that SM is putting a lot of attention and care into the direction they go and the concepts they are given. The last thing I would wish to happen to f(x) is that it is made into a poor man's SNSD carbon copy dancing with giant lollipops and dominatrix suites in hopes of catching even a fraction of fandom SNSD has. And nothing wrong with lollipops or dominatrixes. It's just that it's not f(x). Unless it's meant to be ironic, like sarcastic lollipop licking and apathetic dominatrixes or something.

Yeah, I always thought of F(x) as SME's 'indie' project. They are an idol girl group in a very 'un idol' way without completely antagonizing in the industry which allows them to be part of it.

Victoria is my queen tbh, but in my head I came to terms to the fact that SME doesn't neglects F(x) as much as fans seem to think. I feel like they realize the fact that F(x) is a very un-idol girl group if you compare them to what the industry deems as the 'standard' for a girl group, and they are working that to their benefit.


That kinda became my theory after Pink Tape. I feel like SME is trying to mix a bit of 'artistry' in the idol concept with F(x).

I think I'm gonna have to agree with you, although I still think SM do not pay much attention to them.

Korea has seen many girly-girl groups, with bubbly and cute dance steps, etc. f(x) is different--and that is one (if not the main) of the reasons why they were dubbed as 'Asia's pop group'. I think it has been Koreans' standard that a girl group should be as girly as the previous girl groups established, if not, then girlier. They had that way of thinking. They were used to mini dresses, skirts, shorts, dash of pinks and purples, bubbly steps, etc.

They deserve it. They deserve more, tbvh. SM has never paid much attention to them even before EXO debuted. It sucks, because f(x) is one of those girl groups you'd really love. They are not just another bubbly/cutie/whatever-you-call-it group. They have their own identity. They're turning five this year, and they don't have their official color and fanclub name yet. The girls are too talented to be kept in their box. Honestly, it was quite insulting on their part when they were paired with EXO during the SMTOWN week. I am an EXO stan and all (username huh), but dude, the f(x) should have had their own day of con (during SMWeek), you know. If SM really wants money, they should promote these girls more, because f(x) fans, or should I say f(orever nameless) fans, would totally spend all their money for these girls.

I hope that this year, we, f(orever nameless) fans would have our own fc name and official color. Oh well, with or without an official fc name and color, I'd still support f(x) no matter what. but they still need those

I swear to god SM once said because f(x) are a dance performance group foremost that they'd never give them a fc name, but I appear to be the only person who remembers this, so I may have made it up to make myself feel better. After all, the girls have mentioned wanting an fc before.
