Leeteuk to Return to Military Service Today

Super Junior member Leeteuk will be returning back to his army base after taking a few days leave due to the death of his father and grandparents.

He was put on vacation from his military service on January 6, when he heard news that his father and his grandparents had passed away. Leeteuk, his sister (actress Park In Young), and their family and friends mourned for their loss at the funeral on January 8. Now that the deceased have been buried, he will finish his four nights and five day leave and head back to his base in Inje-gun, Gangwon-do.

It has been reported that Leeteuk quietly spent his vacation with his family. It is expected that he will finish up his remaining seven months in his military service. There have been some questions of whether he would finish his service earlier, because of the tragic family circumstances, but military officials expressed their doubts and explained that this would only be the case if Leeteuk became the legal and sole provider of his family.

On January 6, the bodies of Leeteuk’s father and grandparents were found in their home. Although originally reported that they died in a car accident, it was revealed that Leeteuk’s father taken the lives of his parents and committed suicide due to being overwhelmed with his struggles and his depression. The Father was suffering from depression while in serious debt and taking care of his Parents.
The grandfather had Dementia and the Grandmother had last-stage lung cancer and Dementia.

apparently the suicide note read like “I will take my parents and go to heaven together so live well.” and also "I'm sorry to my children"

i think that this is a good move for him. he needs to be away from all the media frenzy so that he can be at peace with what happened to his family and get back his strength and move on.
leeteuk is not my favourite person in the world but i wish for him to find strength for his family and most impoertantly, for himself.

i wonder why her mother's never mentioned. i mean, not that the media has to mention her. but his sister's mentioned before (although maybe that's bc she's sort of a public figure also), so i'm just curious as to what happened to her mother.

His parents were divorced, maybe that plays some role. But either way, it must have been shocking for the mother too, so I'm happy if she's been left alone and out of the media.

I guess he and In Young would be the chief mourners as next-of-kin given that the parents have been divorced for a long time. His mum was the mum-in-charge the time I visited Kona Beans in Seoul and she was so nice. There was one customer whose behaviour was a bit odd and erratic, maybe a mental health thing, and she was super-nice and patient with her.

as much as i wish this didn't happen to anyone, i'm happy that after such a tragedy he is going back in service and not into the insanity of the celeb life. this way he will be better shielded from the media and crazy fans for the next few months, and his days/nights are regimented so he will not be able to drown any emotions in overworking himself (we know that he is a workaholic.) and no matter what, you know his super junior brothers will be there for him.

i agree, i hope she is left to her mourning in peace. i was pissed when i found out that KBS actually aired the footage from the funeral (Koreaboo has an article on it). that was just plan crass. report it because it is news, but don't invade that private moment by showcasing a very human/private moment with the world. there is a boundary and it was crossed

I can't believe KBS did that. I hope the public vocally disagreed with its showing. I've not been on Koreaboo in a long while, but I was reading a lot of crime and gritty new on KoreaBang. They don't talk about celebrities there.
