‘You Who Came From the Stars’ Drama Set Cost Over 1 Million USD
It has been revealed that Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun’s house set in You Who Came From the Stars cost over 1 billion KRW (~1 million USD) to build.
According to a drama rep, the house that Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun live in in the drama is not real, but a built drama set.
Jun Ji Hyun’s house was decorated with items mostly in pink and red to go along with her sassy character and pictures of herself covering the walls, to reflect her role as a top star.
Kim Soo Hyun’s house was mostly built to reflect his clean and neat character, with most of the items being black and white. The house is also decorated with trees and a small pond, with the spaceship-shaped ceiling.
His office was also built to reflect his character as an alien who has lived on earth for 400 years, decorated with precious items from around the world, including a transparent golden clock, one of only three that exist in Korea. The clock, which cost over 30 million won (~28,000 USD), will be revealed for the first time through the drama.
SBS’ set designer Shin Seung Jun said, “After completing the set over a month, I was happy to hear Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun say ‘is this really our house? It looks amazing!’ and ‘thank you for building a pretty house.’”

Jeon Ji Hyun as Cheon Song Yi
Chun Song Yi is a famous actress who is notorious for her stunning looks and stupidly silly social media updates. She’s at the top of her game and is currently filming a new drama. While stubborn and opinionated, Song Yi is also troubled by the loneliness and isolation that comes with being a top star. When the media gets wind that she hasn’t been attending her graduate school classes, she is forced by her agency to attend on a regular basis. As fate would have it, her professor turns out to be none other than Min Joon, the same Min Joon who also happens to be her new nextdoor neighbor! Ready or not, her fate is already entwined with the stoic alien.
Kim Soo Hyun as Do Min Joon
Do Min Joon is an alien who landed on Earth during the early 1600s. He has lived more than 400 years as a human and prefers to keep his distance from other people. Retaining the same handsome, young appearance since his landing comes with a whole range of difficulties. Every 10 years Min Jin changes his identity in order to avoid suspicion. Not only that, but he also has senses 7x more acute than humans and has the power to stop time and even sometimes see into the future. His vast range of experiences and constant loneliness has instilled in him a sense of detachment and pessimism. According to him, there’s no point for him to be involved with people. Good thing he’ll be returning to his home planet in three months!
Park Hae Jin as Lee Hee Kyung
Lee Hee Kyung is the youngest son of a conglomerate. He is head-over-heels smitten with Song Yi and has been since their middle school days. He doesn’t have much of an interest in the family business and would much rather chase after his love. He’s proposed to Song Yi on multiple occasions, but they have thus far all failed. Don’t worry, this hasn’t stopped him from trying again and again.
Yoo In Na as Yoo Se Mi
Yoo Se Mi plays the second lead both in dramas and in her own life. She and Song Yi grew up together and both decided to pursue acting careers. Worse yet, she is in love with her friend Lee Hee Kyung, but he already loves Song Yi. Se Mi just can’t catch a break.

While I think Song Yi has great writing behind her, I think JJH really makes her a great character. I mean, I can easily see other actors infantilizing Song Yi and portraying her as a complete, insufferable ditz, but somehow JJH doesn't do that and makes the character extremely endearing ;___;

songyi is the best female character in a looong time, and min joon wanting her inspite of the time left is great. that'd usually never happen in other dramas
yoo inna is tricky for me, which is also a step up for most second leads. you feel bad for her always being in the shadow and never getting the guy she wants, but she's a horrible person now because of it. i don't even know if i want her to end up with huikyung, unless she does some major growing. and huikyung is adorable, even if it's so sad to watch him try.
also, I'M JUST SO HAPPY LEE YIKUNG IS IN SOMETHING AGAAAAIN :)

They are just so fucking cute, I can't. Song Yi is soooo perfect and alien boy is cute as a button.
Se Mi is finally going all evil and I'm not that happy about her character? I wanted for her to be torn between her friendship with Song Yi and her career, but when she said she faked her friendship with SY.. my heart broke for SY. Why can't we have complex second leads???
Second lead guy is still cute (I don't find him that pushy? I mean, he can be annoying, but he's actually behaving really nicely for a second lead lol), but soo stupid. I wonder what will happen between Se Mi and him.
Evil hyung is so evil (again) and I no longer find him hot in a morbid way, I just want him to go away, he's scary.
Can we talk about the cold thing? Is he becoming human? Someone tell me he's not going home :((((

I actually liked episode 7 more. That ending with him appearing and then stopping the car with that clap of thunder was so hot. I wish he'd swept Song Yi up in his arms and ridden off into the moon on horseback. Would've made my day. Love this show.

Not here for Se Mi's character turning darker. I was really hoping she'd be a good, if conflicted and sometimes petty, person. But her implying that her niceness has all been an act to impress 2nd lead? Bleh. Hoping we'll see more layers from her later but not impressed at the moment.
Serial killer hyung continues to have a higher body count than most killers in more serious dramas. Jesus.
