K-pop Finally Coming to Chicago! Boy Group BOYFRIEND to Perform in the Windy City and Dallas in March

Want one more thing to celebrate for the New Year? K-pop is finally inching its way into the US. Many fans of the genre often lament the fact that K-pop seems to be so focused in the West and East Coast, often being held in Los Angeles or New York.

But in March, Jazzy Group US, the American arm of Jazzy Group who is known in Malaysia for bringing artists closer to the fans, will be bringing BOYFRIEND to Chicago (March 11th), and Dallas (March 13th).

Starship Entertainment's boy group is known for their striking looks and charismatic personalities. Debuting in 2011, BOYFRIEND made strides both at home in Korea and Japan, and now circling the globe with their first tour in America.

Bestfriends, as their fans are called, will be thrilled to spend precious time with Donghyun, Hyunseong, Jeongmin, Youngmin, Kwangmin and Minwoo. Jazzy Group US promises a memorable showcase. With tickets going on sale on January 7th, fans will want to know all the details to get the best experience. VVIP Ticket Holders (a.k.a Red Zone) will be able to get BOYFRIEND's latest album and bring it to an album-signing session and the high touch session. The next tier still gets a chance to see BOYFRIEND up close with the Yellow Zone purchasers also getting high touch opportunities!

The ticket prices are listed below!

US$230 (Chicago) $220 (Dallas) Red Zone (VVIP) free latest album + album-signing session & hi-touch with Boyfriend

US$160 Yellow Zone (VIP) with hi-touch passes

US$110 Blue Zone

US$90 Orange Zone

Omona, how many people are going to go? I'm going to the Chicago showcase. I hope to see a lot of people there to make this a success. I heard the promoters are testing out the waters here, so if the Boyfriend showcase goes well, we will get more Kpop events in Chicago.

i mean i know its expensive to bring a group over for two tour dates so i expect to pay more to see them because there is more cost involed and i think a lot of others are willing to pay more cause its really a once maybe twice in a lifetime oppurtunity but even i cant stomach 90dollars for most likely poor seating and a 1 maybe 2 hour concert tops

i mean i get the first two id never pay that much but hey you have your audience for a meet up and sign plus the best seats but i mean why arent the shitty seats like 40-50 bucks like i would pay 40-50 bucks to see an idol i kinda like i mean push come to shove ill prob give in to see my faves at 90 but ill have nothing left over for merch which is gen the biggest money maker at a concert anyway

right like if this was a second tier intl fandom group that be pushing their luck but theyd make enough for it to probably be profitable and i may joke around about how the twins creep me out but i do like some of their songs but they do not have the intl fanbase for this price to be that high

What kind of arenas are they playing at? Wouldn't it make more sense for them to perform in a small arena like the Beacham? Especially considering the dates they are being held, I really don't see them being sold out any time soon.

Though I do hope I'm proved wrong, it's not easy to break into the US as a foreign group.

Your research paper sounds pretty interesting, actually.

And I think Beacham is just an orlando venue, which is where I live. Honestly, living in Florida makes it so that I'll probably never see a US showcase, since they are mostly done in Cali or NYC. I'm a college student, I can't splurge that kind of money, and I'd rather go to shows in small venues like the Beacham where the ticket price generally ranges in the 20-30 dollar range.

Oh yeah, I'm totally aware. Which is why I settle for ninja fancams, and hopefully one day I'll have the opportunity to go to a concert.

That was why it was so amazing in London when we had the MBC show for £15; 4minute, EXO-K, Norazo, some other stuff too. £15???? For a K-pop show???? Boyfriend were £60, U-Cube was £90, I mean?????? Bargain!!!

Honestly this motherfucking cold front bullshit better end by then or I'm not seeing ANYONE. I don't know. I had to fly to NY to see Infinite so I'd defo like it if more kpop groups acknowlege the non-LA/NY locations of the states. I don't dislike Boyfriend either. I'm considering going.

They said the same thing about "testing out the waters" when Wonder Girls and 2pm came years ago, and nothing happened since...

And no way in hell would I spend that kind of money on a group I'm not a fan of. I hope the event actually sells. ;/

wow....I only paid <$50 for 2PM/WG tickets in Chicago for the pit and they were way more popular than Boyfriend.

idk, the low price of the 2pm/wg concert was exactly the thing that sealed the deal for me to go and see them. and i still had to travel from MN.

i wonder if it's because jyp actually had a tour going instead of 2 locations, and went through livenation to play at a lot of house of blues' that kept the price down? jyp obviously lost a lot of money with the tour (all the canceled locations), but i still wish more companies would take a chance like that. having 1 or 2 showcases either on a coast or in the middle of this inconveniently hugeass country is no way to test waters.

I'm still so ticked that the Chicago concert is on a Tuesday. Not that I'm super big into Boyfriend or anything, but I was planning on going to support K-Pop in Chicago. Since it's on a Tuesday I can't afford to miss two days of student teaching TT_TT They should have scheduled this on a weekend!

Yeah, this isn't happening for me. I would LOVE for more K-Pop acts to come to the Midwest, but I can't see spending that ticket money on top of travel costs (I live about 4-5 hours drive from Dallas, even more from Chicago). It's also only one group (a group that I'm not really interested in, either), so I couldn't justify spending that much money at all. The Tuesday thing is also a no for me. This is just bad all around. :/ I wish I could support bringing in more K-Pop groups to this area of the country, but not under such shitty circumstances.

I understand all that and I never said I thought the prices were unjustified/unreasonable for that type of event. I just don't want to pay the prices, especially when I feel like I won't enjoy it. I'm a poor college student, yo; spending a large chunk of money on the off-chance that an act I actually like will come to this area of the country seems more like a crapshoot than anything. Playing the lottery would be cheaper, lol. I love K-Pop and I would love to see my faves live, but broke-ass bitches like me gotta eat.

Ugh, we need a support group for all us poor girls that can't go see Oppa in concert because we spent our last dime for his album. :'( Putting in that overtime for that new mini-album and the poster, smh

Omona News Exclusive: We are all broke bitches and can only afford the Internet connection required to download Oppa's album illegally via a certain blog whose name shall not be mentioned here.

But yes, I am all for #BrokeBitchSolidarity being a thing. A giant support group for those of us that have to watch as their friends go see Oppa/Unnie live while we sit at home and sob over fancams and pictures. AKA my SMTown NYC experience with my best friend tweeting about it the entire time. /cries forever

i like boyfriend and i've been to the riv a bunch of times (to see indie bands so idk how it would work for a pop group) but there's no way i'm paying that kind of money tbh ~shrug~

ugh. i don't follow them but i would consider going just to support kpop coming to dallas. 70 dollars for the upper deck at Verizon theater though. I paid something like 60 to see Maroon 5 so this is just making it really hard. i'll have to talk t my friend more and see if she's willing to go with me.
