2PM’s Taecyeon decided to do some damage control for several earlier tweets criticizing the management at JYP.

Early on January 4 Taecyeon wrote several tweets expressing his frustration at JYP Entertainment. He even went as to say that JYP needed reformation and said “Don’t place importance on being part of the ‘Big 3′ or the agency’s name but it’s time to seek for substance.” The tweets seemed to be about some employees at JYP who were treated unfairly in Taecyeon’s opinion.

Hours later, Taecyeon deleted those tweets and wrote a new apology on his official Twitter account. He wrote, “I think it was inappropriate of me to publicly criticize my company’s management. Please understand that I wrote that in my love and passion for JYP to be the best company. From now I will be a Ok Taecyeon who will work hard and has good communications with the company.”

Perhaps Taecyeon got into trouble from his agency about his too honest tweets?

Article: Ok Taecyeon advises JYP "In need of reform in 2014... Internal development needed"
Source: TV Report via Naver

1. [+1,242, -63] It's really embarrassing to even call JYP a part of the top three. Suzy's feeding them all. Ok Taecyeon really did well with this statement.

2. [+942, -53] I agree with him. WG, 2PM, and 2AM had low digital records. Other agencies are transforming, JYP needs to change as well.

3. [+851, -61] The start of reform is by kicking Sunye out and Park Jin Young thinking he can do everything on his own...

4. [+758, -30] What a cool way to diss your company ㅋㅋ

5. [+614, -25] Sounds kind of scary, like he's holding a secret bomb.

6. [+278, -8] Seems there's some discord within the staff about promotions, like the staff who did nothing got promoted while the hard working ones got nothing.

7. [+269, -11] I'm sure Taecyeon knew the consequences to posting something like this so I'm really proud that he was brave enough to do it.

8. [+226, -5] JYP just reminds me that there's a huge difference between loving your company and actually managing it.

9. [+229, -3] Just how bad is it that a celebrity with contract time left had to publicly write something like this...

Article: Ok Taecyeon apologizes "Inappropriate of me to criticize JYP, my affections for the company are excessive"
Source: Star Today via Nate

1. [+383, -11] What was excessive about what he said? He wrote what was true and seemed to restrict himself appropriately. The comments to what he said for the most part were positive and in support of his ideas. The only thing he did wrong was talk about his company's business affairs publicly but I feel that if he made the conscious decision to go public with it, he should stick to his guns instead of taking it back and apologizing.

2. [+268, -11] I hope JYP reads all of this and reflects so that they can move forward and improve.

3. [+262, -8] Taecyeon is not at fault here. He is simply the one who chose to wield the sword for all of the problems that have been built up between other artists and their fans. Everyone is on the same page as Taecyeon. Until when does JYP plan on ignoring the opinions of fans and living off of their past glory days?

4. [+16, -1] I really hoped for a JYP artist to come forward like this. Taecyeon was not excessive in any way, he did fine. This is the opportunity for them to unroot Park Jin Young's obsession with American advancement once and for all.

5. [+15, -1] It's the weekend and JYP is still working?? They're of course the hardest workers when it comes to their image ㅋㅋ They put all the blame onto their own artist and hide behind his back ㅋㅋ I seriously want them to open a conference, not with 2PM but just the JYP staff.

Well, the third comment is basically saying they should kick Sunye out. I'm assuming it's all because since she's married and have a baby, she's deemed "unsuitable" for idol career. Also, considering this post is about reforming JYP, it kind of implies that they need to kick her out to make WG start anew.

I figured he'd have to apologize given the culture and society around bitch slapping your elder's in the face, but I realllllllly am glad he didn't bow with his head to the floor and chide himself for what he said. Cause god knows it's not all sunshine and puppies behind closed doors, no matter what company it is. :/ He did nothing wrong, period. I wish more idols would speak up to be honest. Perhaps being raised in America has it's positives when it comes to breaking rank, so to speak.

Also, negl, but the comments from the netz are legitimately blowing my mind. I've never seen such calm, supportive, and overall intelligent comments out of them, like, ever. Save for the shade at Sunye, that's uncalled for.

I give Taec his props. You got a problem with the way the company is run then of course speaking up will lead to changes. The fact that he made his concern public in a respectful manner will put more pressure on the company to change as well. The apology is totally strategic.

Taecyeon had every right to say what he said but perhaps twitter was not the best place to vent. Regardless, I am really impressed by him being brave enough to speak up in the first place and the classy way he's handling the situation.

I'm loving 2PM more and more these days.

Taec must've been so upset with all the shit going through the company. I love JYP artists, most of them are great people, but they aren't promoted at all, srsly, what have Miss A, 2PM, 15&, the rest of WG and 2AM been doing lately? I'm hardcore Miss A stan but I feel so bad for my girls, when they end promotions they basically doesn't have much to do, besides Suzy. Even Suzy suffers with the lazy mgmt, what's with that stupid scandal with MBC. They shouldn't have make the girl go through this. *Flips table* Put your shit together JYP.

I wouldn't be with JYPark himself, if such a thing were possible. He like Lee SooMan have left the main reigns of their companies in others hands for a while now. They both still are a part of their companies like SooMan is Chairman of SME and Creator SM C&C-getting/buying all your faves-, but not the main position.

but I would be in heaven if an idol tweeted or updated some sms status with "downloading the control beat" then other idols joined in. Shit would fly. Clutch your pearls MOGEF!

save for the comment shading Sunye I applaud the netizens comments.

While it's true that twitter isn't usually the best place to air grievances such as his it was likely the only avenue Taec had available to do it. Based on the translation the tweets were well thought out, not something posted in an emotional state so I'm pretty sure he knew what he was doing & the risk. He may be apologizing but he's not sorry for what he did and that's fine cuz sometimes things gotta be reviled publicly to start change.

ia with what some of you have said: I think he's apologizing because he knows he needs to. It's a smart move, he brings public attention to it and then covers it with a sorry-that-was-rash apology which really means, "Someone had to say it,". Well. I knew JYP was screwed up the moment JYP the man tried to have a memorial-ish gayo performance. He was hinting at their downfall ig /lolz

Sigh, more comments specifically centered on JYP instead of JYPE but I guess he's the face of the company so it's to be expected.

Anyway, Taec's super cool, right? Those 2pm men have grown up well.

I'm a 2pm stan and they're the only group I really follow. While I will never purchase a DVD or Okcat product in my life, I watch all the things they're in even without subs, which puts me in stan category right? Idk.... what does that word mean anyway?

So, I still love them to pieces because I follow even their Japanese stuff but their promotions in SK have been so awful. I think the boys definitely wanted a more grown up concept, they had a lot of injuries so the flips etc probably wasn't the first on their list of things to do. But two slower R&B/pop songs from 2pm as their reintroduction to the SK market? Who thought that up?

They're spending the first quarter of the year in Japan for a tour, and their newest album promotions (which probably means a super tired/hungry wooyoung on WGM) sooooooo this gives JYPE plenty of time to get their ish together. Although, if Got7 does well enough maybe they won't care...

Also, netizens be sleeping on those other 2pm members. Taec may be the face of the group but several of the members are in the background hustling.

Btw, OP are you going to do a Human Condition Living without stress post?

Date: 2014-01-04 04:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] uniqlos.livejournal.com
i liked adtoy tbh. i think a lot of the songs seem misplaced because they were supposed to be released in 2012 and that got cancelled cos of khun's thing.

tbh part of me isn't even bothered they're not as relevant as they used to be, because the whole of kpop is so boring now lol. they were at the top when kpop was at it's peak and now it's over-saturated with irrelevant randos so i imagine for a lot of older groups it's not as fun as it used to be.

and they're doing well in japan, second best male group to thsk only, but of course netizens won't acknowledge that, because doing so means admitting that japan's music industry>>>>>korea's, and you know netizens ain't here for that lol.

also taec can do no wrong in the eyes of netizens now, he gave up his permanent residency in the us and underwent two (or three?) surgeries to be able to be considered an active duty soldier

Don't get me wrong. I loved the whole album of Grown. Listened to it non-stop for a while there. I just thought that if they were going to re-enter the market that they needed to remind fans of who 2pm was and strike up a little nostalgia with something like Game over and ADTOY as a double release.

I'm so pressed that they're not relevant in SK because I prefer their Korean releases and if they're not relevant I don't get any! And variety. I miss them so much on Korean variety!

IA though that kpop bubble is bursting which means it's so great that they've been working hard and are finally seeing results in Japan. And the company who runs them in Japan knows what they're doing. Junho's solo album and tour were handled really well.

I knoooow! He went through so much so he could serve active duty. Part of the reason he is super cool. I personally think that he's taken up the leadership role in the group so it makes sense that he was the one to tweet about his dissatisfaction etc.

He's just really grown up to be a really great guy. But that may be my bias speaking. I have no reservations saying that at least 2 of the members need to stop singing because it's nagl but I am so bias-blinded when it comes to their personalities and friendship.

Date: 2014-01-04 05:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] uniqlos.livejournal.com
yeah, i do miss them on variety shows. they're the funniest boygroup. i was hoping the gayos would have special stages between the big groups like '08-'09, especially because now the japanese year-end shows didn't invite any korean acts again...but everyone is so busy so ofc the special stages were pretty boring.

Except for the comment on Sunye I'm surprised by how supportive they are

Let me point out the stupidity of the Sunye shade...they all acknowledge the American advancement ruined things for the Wonder Girls and that JYPE is poorly managed so you would think they'd consider it wise of her to continue on with her personal life since WG are such a mess

Seriously, I don't understand when it became logical to blame Sunye for everything having to do with the WG and JYPE as a whole.

Bless Sunye and Sohee for looking out for their best interests. It's clear that the future of JYPE is being channeled into Sunmi anyway, and it looks like it's resources well spent, but the company needs to do so much more if it has any hope of being competitive.

While I'm glad he cares about the staff, talking negatively about someone's promotion in your twitter isn't the right place, especially as JYPE is a publicly traded company* and its board hasn't given you the right to air company's dirty laundry in public. Either contact company executives directly or if you are desperate send a mass email for all JYPE employees about your grievances instead of just creating fodder for rumours by talking about the issue publicly. Oh well luckly for him he's the big money maker in JYPE, so he can't be fired over his rant.

*This kind of talk can affect the company share price

This. All of this. Thank you.

As with work and personal relationships, dirty laundry just should never be aired publicly. Especially with corporations who only care about their bottom line, any actions that can potentially (!) affect stock prices is subject to intense scrutiny. Maybe I'm a traditionalist but I think it's always best to talk to the higher management first and if nothing can be changed, then maybe it's time to quit.
