SISTAR’s Hyorin Talks About Her and the Group’s Income

On December 31, SISTAR’s leader and main vocalist Hyorin talked about her income during her appearance in the variety program “Beatles Code 3D”

When Shin Dong Yup said to Hyorin, “I heard that you are the top in your group to have earned the most income” to which the singer replied, “That’s not true anymore.”

Hyorin continued on, “In the past, I used to earn a lot because I filmed some pictorials and commercials for beverages. But now, all the members of SISTAR are doing their own thing and so their incomes have increased. In fact, I’m the one who spends a lot. A lot of money was spent because of my solo album, along with my album cover and music video which were all filmed in the UK.”

Many of the comments from the netizens who watched the program included, “I always thought she was number one,” and “Then is Bora the top earner?”

that makes me respect her more. her agency should be paying for it but the fact that she believes in herself enough and wants it enough to put in her own money is really admirable.

that is really cool too :) the reason I like artists like lee hyori and miryo from beg is that they're directly involved with a lot of their music so I'm happy hyorin is doing the same.

i read it differently. because the company spent a lot on her solo, they took out the extra through her pay. so she didn't really make that much.

the way i read it was that the company spent a lot of money on her, but that it necessarily was paid from her pocket? doesn't starship have a weird pay of paying their acts too? i remember the boyfriend paying shenanigans.

plus starship seems very hyorin biased, i wouldn't see why they would make her pay for ehr solo career when they have been pushing her hard sinbce her debut and she always brought the dough.

but if she indeed paid from her pocket, more power to her!

idk i read it as: the revenue was high but bc the costs were high too so the profits weren't actually higher/as high as some other member (supposedly), which makes sense i think

It sounds like Hyorin has a profit-sharing arrangement with Starship. As long as the split is fair and Starship isn't running up unnecessary expenses it seems fine to me - on the flip side it should mean that when the costs go down/profits go up she'll get paid more, unlike idols who are only paid a salary no matter how much they bring in.

I don't see the other members being paid more than her, she's probably lost some income on her solo from the sounds of it though.
