I know he loves good wine and I love wine myself too so I can understand (I often drink it, especially with meals) but having the habit of drinking alone (and maybe, ending up drunk) is quite worrying :/
well it's different for different people. drinking alone at home is usually just to drink to get drunk, it's not ~normal social drinking, so it's often seen as a clear symptom of alcoholism
What does being in public have to do with it? Maybe he stays home because he's shy and ultra-famous and going out is a pain. It's more about how much he drinks, and how much he's drinking to avoid reality, than it is about where he drinks, isn't it?
I'm just mentioning one criteria that's used to judge whether someone has a drinking problem. I don't know TOP so I have no idea whether his drinking is a problem or not. "He doesn't get drunk in public" isn't proof that he doesn't have a problem, though. Also if - I'm saying if - TOP has a problem but is in denial about it, of course he'd say that drinking helps him.

And although I can understand the concern about his drinking it does seem like he's recognized he can get excessive and sounds like he's trying to keep it in check? Hm.
idk about his drinking, he said he didn't drink beer before bc he'd feel drunk, so idk if it's a problem. different culture i guess, i know lots of people who will have a few glasses of wine like 3-4 times a week....
