That thing is a launchpad, it's plugged on a computer with a mixing software open (like ableton or whatever) all the sounds are on the software and the launchpad is just here to as it says launch them sounds. Each button is a sound and there are many modes and other programmation thingies. So yeah, basically it's a tool to make live digital mixes and mashups.
