Article: "Yah, get out!" INFINITE's managers under controversy for shouting informal Korean... fancam opinions divided

Source: Kuki News via Nate

Fancams show INFINITE's managers shouting at rowdy international fans at the airport in a bit of an aggressive/rough manner like "Get out", "I said get out!", "move". Netizens were divided in opinion, with some stating that the managers were giving a bad image to the group and Korea by shouting like that and others stating that the managers probably had no choice but to shout like that for INFINITE's safety.

Apparently, anti-Korean Japanese blogs are also using the fancams as examples of ill Korean behavior, saying, "This is the true image of Koreans. They'll smile brightly at a concert they're paid for but yell at you if you follow them around at the airport because you like them. Hallyu? What a joke."

1. [+552, -49] Even if the managers shouted at the fans in English, it still would've been informal. "Get out" is still informal, right? And is that anti-Korean site allkpop? Seems they're acting up again

2. [+517, -29] I'm not defending the managers but I definitely don't think the fans who are at the airport and running at the members so aggressively like that are sane ㅋㅋㅋㅋ The managers probably got sick of trying to defend the members from that zombie crowd and resorted to shouting in the end. It wouldn't make sense to criticize them for not shouting in English instead.

3. [+437, -32] I actually think they held back shouting just 'yah'... The fans wouldn't have backed off if they said 'excuse me' in a calm voice. The managers aren't in the right but a lot of hter groups aside from INFINITE have troubles like this too. There needs to be a solution to this since their safety is at stake...

4. [+34, -3] What do you expect the managers to say then? Go away? Please? Seems more like anti-Koreans are using this to hate on Korea even more. There's nothing you can do when you can't get the fans to back off. What if an accident happened?

5. [+28, -4] What an absurd world... do people really expect managers to show respect to stupid fangirls?

6. [+25, -0] Other companies were in trouble for their managers physically assaulting fans... is this really worth a controversy for just shouting? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Does anyone really expect managers to say excuse me in a chaotic situation like that? As if the fans would back off!

7. [+25, -4] EXO managers assault fans ㅋㅋㅋ

8. [+21, -1] At least the managers didn't assault them. A crowd like that puts INFINITE's safety at stake so they probably had to resort to shouting.

Just curious, but are you saying that when crowds get dangerous to the point of injuring idols and staff (and innocent bystanders) that it is still not okay to be physical with fans? And if so, when you mean physical, are you just referring to hitting or do you mean pushing/shoving them as well?

I don't give TWO fucks. I went to their New York concert and the fans went absolutely batshit out of control. Yell at them, assault them with mace, I don't care. Idols/singers/actors are not property to be owned or prey to be stalked.

This happened in London?

Do KPOP idols have bodyguards? They should invest in some security to surround the acts as they walk through.

Yelling, imo, isn't that big of a deal, but physically assaulting is always a no-no UNLESS someone is posing an actual threat.

I've always felt idol companies don't do nearly enough to protect their employees tbh. In no way can I justify violence but it always seems like their entourages are so poorly staffed that managers sometimes are at their wits end and have outbursts.

I'm almost under the impression that mangers double as security/bodyguards??

Date: 2013-12-05 01:56 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] stoppedclock321.livejournal.com
Very rarely do groups actually have their own security. At most from what I've seen, the venue itself (airport, hotel, etc.) will have guards of their own, but even that is a hindrance rather than a help sometimes (i.e., they confuse their charges for fans; an airport guard accidentally knocked Jessica down, a hotel security person didn't let Kyuhyun enter the building). It's a huge issue, but it makes sense why idols don't have their own guards - it's already expensive enough to fly around their crew, forget adding more for security.

I had no idea that Inspirits were that wild, but I'm not surprised in the least that International fans are a bit thirstier than the Koreans who get to see them all of the time. No doubt there's cultural differences too, that allowed for New Yorkers (and misc Americans) to choke each other out, just to get closer to the stage, while Korean/Japanese fans keep it cute.

I knew Londoners were gon' act a fool, after what they did to Exo. NYC OGS set the bar for the craziness that was the concert itself, but I heard of no shenanigans outside of it.

I'm sticking to LA/Osaka.

Even if we are talking about hysteric fangirls, people usually choose to forget that the industry of K-Pop feeds this kind of behavior, wrapping their idols as princes in shinning armor, forbidding them to date or show themselves as normal people. This way is easier to sell every shit product with their stamps on it.

They feed this idolizing behavior and it's pretty expected to see the crazy fangirls and stalkers blossoming in this kind of environment. To blame silly girls, oppressed by a very competitive society and a nerve wracking school system is easier than to question the industry of K-Pop and its eagerness for money.

And, oh, the poor idols, swimming in their super cars and branded clothes, loving their fame so much, of course they don't know the way the industry sells them. Of course being painted as some kind of gods will not put them in these situations.

In the end, the whole thing is so twisted, that we find it normal to see people screaming, harassing and hitting people in the light of the day.

Yelling is fine...I knew SM. managers have done some messed up things. I remember that one Shinee managers wacking fans in the Airport.

Not hitting but cruely I remember one time when Kris came back to Korea the manager tossed all the fan gifts he'd accepted at Incheon on the ground in front of the fans (since in China he'd already bought another suitcase at the airport to put those in)

That one gif of CN Blue...damn son that was cold

Gosh...I have stopped watching airport fancams of EXO, because it just makes me crazy that all of them are so sweet, telling the fans, who push and grab them, to be careful and not get hurt... ;____;

I feel as though yelling is fine, like they're just....yelling? I'm still amazed that the members were still smiling despite being swarmed by the fans while trying to get to their van. I know it's their image but just how???

From: [identity profile] kris-kt.livejournal.com
I think yelling is okay..... mmmm, I've waited for sm artists in NYC before and I've met Yesung at his cafe, I thought most people were pretty civilized but sometimes they do push you however if you are in front is not your fault when you are getting push from behind like what can you do!!! so getting hit by a manager just because I happened to be in the front is a no no, they should get more security imo because I don't condone hitting unless they are harming the artist of course lol

However like I said I've never been in crazy shoving situations so I can't really said.... mmm is an unfortunate situation for artists and fans ~ it gets chaotic for sure~

i've always felt that companies needs to stop leaking airport information to stop this airport non-sense. and to make sure it ends, if it gets leaked to always go through any VIP exits at this point especially if they do not have proper security. otherwise it really is a no win situation as kpop has gotten larger and more fans are emulating crazy behavior. managers should not have to play the role of security. and airports are meet and greets for fans. i know it is free PR for them, but KPop has gone past the stage of needing free PR at the airport.

i like how that caption says the managers were using harsh/rude terms in "our language". native koreans love to refer to themselves like that i've noticed. every korean refers to korea as "our country" in normal everyday conversation it's kind of strange

Yelling is fine. I'd rather be yelled at than touch. One of the staff members from the states hired by infinite's people touched me and I would have rather been yelled at. He talked to me calmly, but still pushed me gently. I was asking only asking for an autograph and I wasn't even close enough to touch sunggyu.

Before the managers reach to the point to attack the crazy fans, companies should invest in bodyguards. More when they are abroad. Bigbang is the only group i had been seen with a proper security. If companies can't afford this kind of treatment for their idols they should think others ways for their idols safety, as VIP exits, ect. The negligence with this matter is absurd, more so when sometimes is just for swagger popularity.
