Sorry about that, please ignore the other one. I completely forgot the source. But like I read before, my least favorite portion is the English rating system. And I am one of the few who enjoys the intros of Vixx songs because they always give a bit of giggles. Plus it gives me a chance to play detective and try to decode what Ravi says.

I know that some starlights are happy and disappointed about this Review of the "making fun" portion of Ravi and his english. But hey, it could have been a lot worst. A LOT WORST I TELL YOU!!!

Anywhoooo...I believe Simon an Martina only pick MVs that are voted up, so that's great they got enough votes to get nominated. It is an epic MV.

LOL someone on Tumblr said Ravi sounds like The Korean Baha Men and now whenever he raps that's all I can think of. I had no idea he was speaaking English until I read the lyrics, but that's just Ravi lol.

Not happy they put them up against Mirotic though. I love Vixx, but I would probably vote for DB5K.

ETA: Ppl are mad about that? Have they not seen past Music Mondays? I think some ppl forget a review is just that a review. It doesn't have to be all positive. Simon and Martina can be super annoying, but I really don't understand why ppl hate them so much.

When I first heard Voodoo Doll's intro, I thought Ravi said "he'll suffer through my horror, I will fight for you" coz it made sense to me at the time. Lol!

I'm sure Starlights won't get angry at eyk. Tbh, starlights accept the fact that Ravi's and almost all kpop idols' Engrish need some work.

I wanna talk about what omona starlights think about the recent fandom drama. There isnt a lot of drama in the vixx fandom so i feel like the recent mess with the fansign rules is worth a mention, since some fansites closed.

"I knew this day would come sooner or later. We didn’t talk about Vixx’s “Hyde” back when it came out, and we dodged the bullet then, but now that Voodoo Doll has been in first place for so long, we can’t ignore the elephant in the room any longer. Ravi’s rapping at the beginning of Vixx’s songs is terrible. Here’s the video, if you haven’t heard it yet:



It’s not a bad song! It’s a really interesting video! But the mumblecrusting at the beginning of the song, and other Vixx songs as well, make us either cringe or howl. Guise: it’s so bad. So bad! The rest of the song would be totally fine without it. COMPLETELY. I don’t feel like it adds any value to the song at all. Quite the opposite: it makes the song worse. WHAT THE HELL IS HE SAYING? I can’t even find subtitles to it online. I googled the lyrics to Voodoo Doll and couldn’t find anyone who translated it in, like, the first seven posts that showed up. It’s like they all shook their heads and pretended it didn’t exist.

And his normal speaking voice is totally comprehensible. It’s just this rap persona he takes on that make him sound like someone reading a tongue-twister with a sock stuffed in their mouth. All I could think of is Eddie Murphy talking about James Brown:



Ok! Phew! Finally got that off my chest. We were scared to talk about it, but everyone in the studio agreed. We just hope we didn’t piss off too many people in the process. Though, let’s be honest: this is the internet so we definitely pissed off a bunch of people.

But the rest of the song and video is totally fine! We are a bit torn about the song, though. Martina’s really digging it. I’m just kinda digging it. I agree that it’s a good song, but it doesn’t really blow me away. It’s just like, yep, an ok song. But it’s not something that’s really groundbreaking or all too unique sounding or anything that gives Vixx a clearly distinct sound over other Kpop groups (apart from Ravi’s intros). Sorry guise. I was more impressed by the video than by the song itself. We were going to do a 30 seconds to disagree panel, but we were worried that if we made fun of Vixx’s name, and Ravi’s English, if I added my lukewarm feelings towards the song we’d have pitchforks outside of our studio. So I saved it for the blog post, where I know people are more level-headed. Right guise? *awkward silence* Right? *crickets chirping* Riiiight? *sound of blades being sharpened on grindstones*

lol, i've long since ignore their weekly review but still following them on youtube just in case. i totally see why people hates them, but it's nothing new in the internet. i mean they should watch some of their earlier reviews, like what they did on b1a4's 'ok' for example. it's a lot worse, but entertaining enough, at least. so, yeah. didn't really hate them for this.

besides, coming from them, it's not like we're expecting some in-depth analysis of the music or what.

i love that simon and martina have the nerve to criticize the english in (korean!!!) songs when they've lived in korea for five years and can barely speak the language or even know anything about it's basic pronunciation (like in that video where they were naming group members and couldn't pronounce 75% of the names???). ~engrish~ in general makes me upset because of course their pronunciation isn't perfect, they aren't native speakers, but coming from these two a-holes it's even worse.

i don't mind S&M. i don't look to them for some in-depth review. EVER. i look to them to poke fun at stuff. i like a bit of humor, i actually understand, with my kpop. fans always take stuff so hard as if it's life or death. these are just their OPINIONS. just like we have our opinions on omona (many in which i side-eye), they have theirs. many people here in omona have even worse opinions than s&m

Yeah! I don't get why everyone's so butthurt about it. I really love VIXX and I love the song. I think sometimes Simon and Martina can be a little annoying, but I thought this week's Music Monday was pretty funny. I loved the comparisons of Ravi with James Brown. His English really is unintelligible in most of the intros in their songs. His Korean used to be that way, too! And the ravioli bit cracked me up. I think some people might be just a tad too emotionally invested in some of their favorite groups... they take the "idol" label too seriously.

I don't enjoy the Music Mondays like I used to back in the "good old days" but I do still like it sometimes. I didn't mind this one and tbh I was just delighted to see VIXX on it because it means both that they likely have more fans (because they got way more votes) and that they will get some attention from more peeps who might not have checked them out before woohoo. Anything to gain a little extra VIXX love ;)

I think everybody knows by now that their Music Monday is not so enjoyable anymore. Most of their music monday is humor i dont find it funny. I prefer their other videos of food and korea related stuff.

Only happy that Vixx is more noticeable and recognise by all general kpop fans. Ravi needs pronounciation works but it's not failed english. And yes, this I agree with OP. It could been lot worse. They manage to piss the u-kiss fandom with their "review" of shut up of giving them failed english for "Mordney Present" which is not even the boys saying it.

A bunch of rambling, making fun of accents and engrish, nothing new for me, my friends and I sometimes joke about that.
I'll take what I can get. Means Vixx is being noticed, and at least they mentioned the choreography.

i've already stated my opinion on eyk before (and gotten nasty backlash for it) but w/e lol i'll reiterate. i can understand and agree with some of the reasons why people hate eyk. they've said some nasty, ignorant things. but i don't get why people go out of their way to find things to hate about them.

like, with the english. they say (however much that means to you) that they're trying to criticize how a company w/ enough money to manage these groups should have enough money to make sure their song doesn't have nonsense english lyrics for the sake of having english lyrics. do i think poking fun at the idols' pronunciation is cool? fuck no, they should stop that. but a lot of the time it's the lyrics themselves rather than the person saying them that gets mocked.
