On November 25, CL of 2NE1 revealed the reason behind the nude scene in the music video for their new single, “Missing You,” showcasing her own artistic vision. “When I heard ‘Missing You,’ I had the thought that there were no clothes that go with the song, and I wanted to honestly express the loneliness and sadness of being alone.”

Billboard compared CL’s nude scene to that of Miley Cyrus’s in “Wrecking Ball,” and said that CL portrayed sadness much better and carried it out in a much more classy way.

She continued about the song, “I like all of 2NE1’s songs, and there are those songs that really move me, and this is one of them. Our members really reflected a lot while recording this song.

Sandara Park talked about one of Park Bom’s parts in the song, where she sings, “My young love ends like this,” and said that she started crying really hard at the thought of separation and of how precious time is.

Along with their promotions for “Missing You,” in March of next year, 2NE1 will be going on a world tour, starting with Seoul and Hong Kong, and going through Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, etc.

Thanks, captain obvious!
lol this said, I really love Missing You MV, her nude scene, and the emotions carried through it (minus the guy dancing but meh he doesn't appear much).
CL and Miley Cyrus are completely different persons, moving in completely different contexts, I don't see the point about comparing... Using this to shame Miley is not useful, nor classy, really. :/

IKR? I'm no fan of Miley but I'm also nhf the regulation of her sexual expression. Kinda feel like they just tossed it out there b/c they're both popular right now, not because there was an actual discussion to be had on 'who did it better'.

Yes, true.

Yeah and also because it's quite popular to shame Miley and say that she's a slut. I understand the criticism around her "twerking because it's cool" when it's appropriation and wrong in so many ways, but Wrecking Ball ? That's a whole other story and people shouldn't be all about "OUH SHE WAS NAKED AND ACTING SEXUAL WHAT A SLUT" when, no, it's a music video, just, calm down.

ia with the miley thing. she has done a lot of shit i dont approve of (appropiating black people etc), but it makes no sense to compare such a personal thing like this

Me too I think the whole "twerking as a cool concept" was wrong, but there is not so much wrong with Wrecking Ball. The video is still obviously provocative but given her past concept, and how she's trying to break free from them, there is sense to Wrecking Ball. She does whatever she wants. I also feel she wanted to express vulnerability, but at the same time how she's still going on and acting strong, while Missing You is about vulnerability and sadness. The songs are both really different...
I fear that Billboard is saying that just because it's ~cool~ to shame Miley and treat her like a slut, and it was easy to use Missing You in this context. Ugh.

Terry gives me creepy vibes, I wouldn't get close to him.
Isn't he the guy suspected of sexual assault/taking advantage of young models ?

I was more talking about the final result, compared to Can't Stop, it's just her on a wrecking ball destroying a wall (plus all the sexual implications), or her singing and crying in front the the camera... It doesn't make harm. :)

I'm not found of her voice in general, but the lastest single didn't do it for me. I could jam to Party in America or whatever that one was, but Wrecking Ball, nope.

I don't like nudity being used to shock people either, but I don't mind people doing it, it's their nudity and their way of dealing with it... It could have been a good idea (the wrecking ball itself, and the destroyed set, not the nudity) but it was bad executed.
Still, I was more shocked by the pictures she made with the same Terry, over-sexualizing with some cute/child-like facial expression, it creeps me out (and I thought the pictures were really low quality, the kind of stuff you could do in your bathroom).

Missing You definitely made me re-fall in love with her. This scene was hands down my favorite because it executed her vulnerability that matched the lyrics really well.

Also I hope she keeps the black hair. I know I'm in the minority, but there's something about the way it makes her look that I'm really drawn to. The problem is that sometimes it washes her out? Like when she was blond, she had more life in her face (or maybe she's just tired idk).

Yeah, I def think the shade needed to be toned done a bit. At first when she got it done, I thought it was going to take the colour a while to settle (black dye almost always washes peopel out in the beginning) but its still remained that dark. I think the general rule is not to go more than two shades darker then your eyebrows.

I wont lie, I was definitely nervous when I hear there would be a nude scene but thank god the firector filmed it so beautifully. it was artistic and CL looked stunning and it did really fit the song. Yaay for no gratuity.

Lol, I'm a bit tired of Miley being everywhere. I don't care. D: Why can't I avoid her?

But, the nude scene was done beautifully and it fit the song. It was short and sweet and expressed exactly what they said it would. It was great. And the black hair made it look even better. A dark shade fits that dark mood.

And she wanted all the members to go nude too

(Star News Interview 2013.11.26)

-What did the members think when it was decided that CL would do a nude scene? What did you think after seeing the video?

▶(Park Bom) CL said to all do it together. We were all taken aback. We didn't think it should have been done that way. So she decided to do it alone. I thought she was really amazing when I saw the (outcome in the) video.

▶(Sandara Park) I didn't think it would be a plus (a good thing) if I did it so I didn't do it (laughs). I never had the thought of wanting to do it but I was moved by CL. It was beautiful.

▶(Gong Minji) I was really shocked. I thought she was amazing to make the decision of doing it for the sake of the MV. She's very cool to have the mentality of doing it as art. I still have the image of being the maknae so I didn't really have the greed (of wanting to do it).

- How did you feel when you saw the finalised video yourself?

▶(CL) Rather than the concept of showing nudity, I was hoping to be able to further express the song. The director did a great job recording (the scene) and it came out well so I'm thankful. I think it'll be good to see when I become a grandma.

Hah! I knew it! Kinda thought it was like that too since at the set there were 3 empty tubs around CL's tub...

This song is absolutely wonderful. I know some people felt it was rather messy, but I adore it. One of their best ever, imo. I think I like this even more than Lonely...

I didn't get anything out of it personally because of the media play. It wasn't as cool as I thought it would be.
