Jung Woo Sung's face is deteriorating and it kinda scares me. Jang Hyuk looks like a better version of the same face... My heart is forever bleeding for what Joo Ji hoon could've been.
Agree on Joo Jihoon. His new drama flopped again despite all the stars in it (even Kwon Sang-woo who is always known for high ratings drama). He's like Lee Junki after the army. At this rate, its hard for him to climb to the top again...
I feel like KSW has ONLY been in flops since 2009. Maybe he had a hit movie... Lee Junkie makes me sad. But I'm happy he takes the roles, because it stops others from getting them. Both of them make he actually appreciate Lee Minki's decision to stay away from dramas.
Exactly. Who cares about ratings if the critics like you? ;) And Arang was soooo much better than Moon/Sun. He was really wonderful in Two Weeks. Really, really wonderful. I hope he goes back to making films soon, now that he is older. I'd really like to see more.
Arang was AMAZING! One of my favourite dramas of 2012. I watched it twice and sometimes go back to watch some scenes. It was gorgeous and the music was so beautiful too. All the characters were great. Also the best Jun Ki has ever acted. I'm a stan but I think he tends to overact a lot however he blew me away in Arang. I think he said he was looking for his next project and that it'd probably be a movie.
He does have a tendency to overact in dramas. I think part of it is that dramas are a bit over the top already, heh. He was SO good in Two Weeks though. I was very impressed.
I actually care about ratings since if producers didn't think you can bring in the numbers, they wont select you for their next high-profile dramas. Just look at Moon Chae Won or Joo Won (please turn a blind eye to the trash that is 7th Grave Civil Servant :P) for example, they always get good dramas because they bring in the numbers. And I'm afraid that Junki wont get that kind of quality dramas if he failed to do so again & again (Hero & 2 Weeks). But of course, he was great in 2 Weeks! Despite I'm a very big fan of So Ji Sub, I feel that 2 Weeks deserved a higher rating than Master Sun. :3
Well, yes, I really just meant that ratings don't determine whether a show is good or not. There is lots of crap on American TV that is still there because of high ratings, and other shows that should still be on because they were good.
And if Lee Jun Ki would do film instead of dramas, that would be fine.
Lee Jun Ki's drama haven't flopped nearly as hard as JJH's. Arang was between 12-14% (AGB) or 13-17% (TNmS) during it's run. Two weeks was in 8-9% with sometimes a 10 or 11 for both AGB and TNmS so yes technically a flop but not the 3% Medical Top Team is getting. The last project Jun Ki did before the army was Hero and that drama flopped just as bad as MTT. The difference is also that Arang was the most expensive drama sold by MBC, ever. More than Moon/Sun. Arang & Two Weeks were also very well received by critics. Which is why Jun Ki still managed to get some awards when we know those are usually reserved for the ones with better ratings. Plus he's still on top overseas and has his music career so he's all good.

lol that okay. I'm a fan so I know it too. ^^; I think I said its a flop since he used to get very high ratings and to settle from 8% to 9% is bad imo. And I remember Hero, I feel so sad for him having to enter the army for 2 years after such a low rating drama. I'm surprised with Top Medical Team too, before I post my reply this morning, I checked their ratings and it suffered as low as 4%. That's really really bad -- I didn't expect it to be that low. :/
And the oversea things is so true. Despite many movies/dramas flopped at Korea, it doesn't mean the same for the overseas market. KSW's Bad Love have low ratings but they still managed to sell it expensively because of his hallyu status.
i think you've also got to take into account that tv ratings aren't what they used to be in korea. the number of people who actually watch tv, no matter what the program is, has decreased since the time when lee jun ki dramas were hits. nowadays it's much harder to hit double digits that it used to be. so arang's/two weeks ratings are decent from that perspective. i can only think of a few weekday dramas that have hit 20% this year, and none of them were great shows tbh. i'd prefer for him to do interesting dramas like arang even if they're not super popular.
mtt's ratings are so bad it's embarassing. i feel so sorry for the cast. ouch. :/ i think everyone expected it to be a huge hit bc of the pd, cast etc so the ratings seem even worse. i haven't heard of a drama getting below 4% in awhile. even all about my romance (massive flop for sbs) never went below 4%...
I actually really agree with you. Lots of my fave dramas do not have killer ratings but the script & production are really good! :)
MTT really suffered a huge blow. I was wondering on how on earth Minho can scored acting deal with all these top actors but when the drama finally aired, the public didnt seemed to like it at all. I guess they had enough with Good Doctor lol.
