A drama about a group of college students who live in a boarding house located in Shinchon, run by Na Jung and her family, that houses students from all over the countryside who come to Seoul for college. It will cover the lives of college freshmen in 1994 as they learn to live in a big city and what the students will go through as they experience Seoul, the basketball tournament obsession, Seo Taiji and Kids, and other social issues that occurred in 1994.

Welp. I've descended into full on Chil Bong stan mode FOR REAL. Oppa can stay Oppa as far as I'm concerned, at least Chil Bong (and Na Jung) has the balls to confess his feelings. That New Year Countdown scene was EVERYTHING. If the show does some huge reversal at this point..........

Other bits, the sunrise scene on the boat was beautiful and the way that romance is developing is so fucking precious <333

Baro's storyline is really adorable (I wonder if we'll see him rap at all like we saw Hoya dance and sing in 97)

At this point even the blind can see that Chilbong is "in it to win it". If he get's one more kiss, it's going to swiftly transition into their wedding kiss.

This is how I see things going down:
1. Chilbong & Najung are a campus couple for the next 5 episodes, but in the end she ends up with Trash.
2. Najung & Trash realize they really are just friends/family (i.e they kiss and then find a bucket to puke in), and Chilbong (who's been waiting on the sidelines) sweeps in to get the girl.

Either way Haiti is getting any.

I loved this week. But my shipping heart is being stabbed every 2 secs. At this point I'm shipping everyone.
I hate Trash for admitting to not watching the movie, I was ready to write him off when he went to chill with friends (lord knows it was funny though).
Chilbong has already gotten TWO kiss scenes?!!! I've watch at least 10 dramas where the OTP get like 1 peck at the end.
Haiti needs love too!

The range of emotions I feel in one episode of this drama is crazy...
I always feel like I'm getting sucker punched in the feelings watching this drama.

Someone mentioned the husband's drastic hairstyle change before the wedding, which is really pushing me to think Haitai is the husband. I'm so prepared to ship them, I can't wait for the next episode, it looks like it will focus a lot on Haitai/NJ's relationship

I don't think I've ever really entertained the possibility of Haitai being the husband, their relationship has always felt SUPER friendly which made me confused b/c the scenes for next week were given a weird ~love angle edit???

I'm so far down the Chilbong rabbit hole at this point that it would feel weird tossing in another love interest this late into the game... i mean, it's not even 1994 anymore!!!!

This show is great in many ways, but not as good as Reply 1997 in its pacing or plot. I love the characters, but I'm tired of the dragging. I really want things to start happening, and I really hate the scenes where we think we might get to see who it is, but don't. That only worked at the beginning of 1997, and just feels fake here. *sigh*

GUYSS MY CHILBONGIE/NA JEONG FEELS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE!!

Ep 9:
-The whole Magic eye stuff and Chilbong foregoing breakfast for some Na Jeong time
-Na Jeong and Chilbong having lunch and Na Jeong's "Sorry Bong-ah!" and Chilbong pouting and blaming her if his team loses
-Chilbong winning anyways because OMG he has her fucking pic in the brim of his hat. But he didn't know Na Jeong went!
-Chilbong was trying to use the Magic Eye image as a cheesy ass confession omg this boy

Ep 10: AHHH THIS EPISODE WAS EVERYTHING
-Chilbong going down the stairs and getting jealous when he spotted Na Jeong coming out of Oppa's room and he was trying to give her the cold shoulder but it's totally lost on her. AND THEN she goes on to pull over this hood and Chilbong is so whipped and smiles anyways
-WHen they're eating breakfast and Chilbong sees Na Jeong get all sad when Oppa pats her hair and he feels her pain because he's going through the same thing and so he puts aside his pride and feelings and helps her do the dishes
-OMG CHILBONG GOING TO SAMCHEONGPO WHILE OPPA GOES WITH HIS FRIENDS. THE CONTRAST.
-Chilbong trying to leave before Na Jeong wakes up but she does wake up and her shooing her to go back inside but then she grabs his arm and again, his resolve breaks.
-THE MOTHERFUCKING CONFESSION. GAVE ME SO MUCH LIFE. And then he kisses her and it was a NEW YEAR'S KISS OMG WHY IS MY SHIP SO PERFECCCT!!!!!!!!!!!!

And their 2013 chemistry SLAYS. There is NO WAY HE'S NOT THE HUSBAND SHOW STOP BAITING ME WITH THE 2013 SCENES.

Sorry, guys. I just needed to get all my feelz out because this couple has so much beautiful buildup and I'm going to cry if it is going nowhere.

GUH. I've rewatched this sequence so many times and die every time. It kills me how Chilbong is trying to get over Na Jeong at that point but one little thing and he's a goner all over again. T_T

I actually like the fact that we don't know who the husband is,makes me more invested and root for my ship! in Reply 1997, the guessing game was kinda lame because we all knew who she was going to end up with and it didn't really feel like the 2nd lead had any chance at all. lol I feel like Haitai sensed that Yoonjin/SCP were endgame and then jumped ships. I think he's just down for some loving, regardless of who the girl is. Like he was dating and then broke up and then showed interest in Yoonjin and then Yoonjin/SCP happened and now there are some mild Haitai/Najung scenes. I say pair him up with that baseball manager girl. Her mere existence is threatening my ship.

I haven't seen ep 10 yet but I think chilbong's name is dongjoon since they mentioned he and binguerae share a family character in their name, I would assume dongwoo has the same character. I think he'll probably end up with the manager girl.

I liked oppa when they had all those cute fights but all the hemming and hawing and awkward moments are annoying me.

not dismissing chilbong AT ALL, because bb you're perfect. but sorry i can't see him married to najeong. idk but either they're going to give me a very well developed najeong-falling-in-love-again or i won't buy it. the thing here is that we still don't know about trash's feelings for her. my guess is he's figuring out how to deal with it because a) he likes her too but ugh i'm your ~oppa~ what to do, b) he didn't think of her as more than a sister but now he realized he does (because of her confession).

i know trash being the husband might be boring and/or predictable but it's what i'm feeling every time. despite all the trolling here and there, i have faith lol

I'm sorry I can't shake off the brotherly feeling from Trash. At the moment I'd take Haitai / Na Jung long before I'd accept Trash as the husband.
I'm gonna need Trash to start talking or at least showing his emotions, if the writer wants me to get on the NJ/Oppa ship. How many times will the poor girl needs to confess before she'll get some kind of answer.

When did SCPxYJ become the best part of this show? At this point I feel like Yoon Jin is a more developed character than Na Jung.

The opening scenes of episode 9 had me in tears holy shit. Yoonjin looking ready to kill (and then again when SCP rewinds the cassettes LOL), Sam Cheon Po calling her future husband crazy, him throwing the remote after they turned the tv back on, Binggeurae offering the knife instead of beer can.

(Finally Binggeurae plot movement!)

Oh hey it's that kid from Shark as Dongwoo! I know he's really young irl but he looks the same age as Baro if not older.

I need my very own Trash. I got a bit emotional when he was encouraging Binggeurae to try doing music (as well as SCP and Haetae following him to the auditions) and if he fails he can always try something else. And when Dongwoo talked about learning to bake for their mum ;; Why does this show do such a good job at making me care so much for characters we'll probably hardly/never see again?!

AHHHH Yoonjin and SCP. It's so nice to see this other side to her. The kiss was really sweet and him bringing hot cocoa instead of coffee ASKFJALFB so cute.

I like Haetae and Najeong's friendship a lot so I really hope they aren't actually throwing him into the love triangle...or square. I suppose he was technically always in the running but...Chilbong ;;

His confession made me giddy. I liked that he didn't make a grand gesture out of it and when he told Najeong he didn't expect her to like him back, I hope it woke something in her because that's what she told Trash.
