More than one and a half year has been passed since the release of the 1st album [Haute Couture] on March 2013. Meanwhile, Glen Check has released two EP albums and won the grand prize for the best dance-electronic album of the year at the ‘10th Korean Music Award, holding an exclusive year-end concert at the Olympic hall (4,000 seats-scale), which is a very exceptional case for a new indie band. Then they went to Spain to "gather visual and musical ideas" for their 2nd album [YOUTH!].
Second Full-length album, [YOUTH!]
Glen Check’s 2nd studio album [YOUTH!] is based on the spirit of young people, culture of young generations in the past and present, and numerous works that can be done among the young, which Glen Check has experienced this summer in Barcelona and Seoul. They translated the inspiration they’ve got from the weather, streets of the young, and landscapes into concrete images, sounds, and wearable forms. Therefore, [YOUTH!] is not only seen as a musical output of Glen Check, but it can also be seen as a small cultural movement of young creative artists. The release of [YOUTH!] is just the beginning, they still seem to have so much to show the world.
Young Generation
Glen Check’s 2nd album [YOUTH!] specially consists of two CDs: ‘Band Set’ version of CD1 which includes songs based on rock music and ‘Instrumental Set’ version of CD2 which includes songs based on computer and electronic music. The song ‘Young Generation’ is present in CD2. While it contains a similar atmosphere from their previous release [Cliché], it has many surprising and fresh elements in the sound. The ‘clavinet’ melody during the drop, which is recorded in a special way by Glen Check, somehow reminds us of Stevie Wonder ‘superstition’. Also, the chorus (‘Oh yeah!’, Woo) done by June one’s younger sister adds savor and vividness to the song. According to the two producers, ‘Young Generation’ best represents the concept of the 2nd album [YOUTH!] as explained above, and you will definitely enjoy the fresh youthfulness of this track.
Glen Check’s year-end concert YOUNG GENERATION
It has been a year since Glen Check had their last [Live On New Years Eve]. Again this year, they're having another new years eve show in Seoul with their new album [YOUTH!], named identically to the track [Young Generation]. You will experience Glen Check’s uniqueness from their live performance, including video and fashion performances done by the members of their creative crew The Basement Résistance.
Ticket opens on the 14th of November 2:00 PM at INTERPARK.
