Not only is EXO competing against Justin Bieber and One Direction for the “Best Worldwide Act” award at the MTV EMA’s, they’re also competing against those two to be the most EMAzing Stars.

It’s not as prestigious as the Best Worldwide Act award, but it’s still something to compete for, and currently EXO is in the lead! Their main competition right now is Justin Bieber, who for a while was closely trailing them in votes.

EXOtics have been working all day and all night to make sure that EXO wins this award, and you can help too!

I'm happy for the fans of course, but it would feel a bit odd if EXO won this award. Like, Big Bang winning two years ago felt groundbreaking but also justified because if there was any k-pop group that was going to win it was them. Similarly, there's not a doubt either that Girls Generation is the biggest girl group in Asia and therefore them winning the youtube award a few days ago feels deserving as well. But compared to these two groups, EXO has only just appeared. I'm not saying the other nominees are amazing, honestly, but it seems odd to give them such an award at this stage?

this argument has been made a lot and on some level I totally understand it, but at the same time, 2013 was really such a breakout and HUGE year for EXO overall. They have sold over a million albums this year, which is a massive achievement in itself.

I think it really comes down to how the EMA's choose their nominees. Like, this year EXO were kinda the obvious choice from the Korea /Japan region and because kpop is so global as a whole (thanks in large part of groups like Big Bang and SNSD) a kpop group was able to make it into the final round and a lot of kpop fans (who aren't necessarily exo fans) are helping out with the voting.

At the end of the day, it would be another win for kpop on a global stage and I think that's what people care the most about *shrug*
