"Why is a Korean actor playing a Japanese ninja?"

One Japanese movie reporter has complained about Lee ByungHun playing a Japanese character in the upcoming movie G.I. Joe. Lee ByungHun plays Storm Shadow in the movie, and in the reporter's article, he stated that G.I. Joe was "a very stupid movie that showed Lee ByungHun as a perfect Japanese when he's not."

He also mentioned that this movie became useless due to Lee ByungHun and couldn't accept why he plays a Japanese ninja.

The reporter also criticized the directors, saying "Stupid old men just made the movie for themselves."

Japanese netizens who read the article mentioned "Kimchi Ninja," and said "All Koreans who enter Japan are all spies."

One netizen said, "He can't do secret missions as a spy because he smells like kimchi." (LOL WAT?) They also mentioned their superiority over all Asians by saying "Stop putting all Asians together, because Japanese are special."

However, other Japanese netizens have mentioned, "Is there any Japanese actors that can do Hollywood action?" and "It's no problem because he portrays a Korean born in Japan."

I'm not surprised, really. This is one of the reasons I've fallen out of Japanese entertainment/culture in the past few years (with the exception of a few artists like Miyavi, who really does appreciate his interational fans.)

I hate people like this that make the Japanese seem so fucking crazy. Not all Japanese people hate Koreans. It's the opposite a lot of the time.
I lived with a Japanese roommate when I stayed in Japan for 6 months, and her and her entire circle of friends love Koreans (especially the dramas). At the school I was going to, they offered Korean and it was the most popular language after English. It's usually the older generation that still seems stuck in that racist mindset.

This reminds me of a highly controversial magazine that came out in Japan a few years ago called Gaijin Hanzai File (means something like "Foreigner Crime File"). It basically attacked every single ethnicity of foreigners that reside in Japan, and Koreans got special attention thanks to the relatively high number of foreigners from Korea living there.

There was a ridiculous Q&A section about Korean women, and one of the "questions" asked was "does a Korean woman's vagina really smell like kimchi?" and the answer basically said "yes, if you get close, you can detect a faint but distinct odor of kimchi!"

when i was dating a japanese guy my sister asked my mom what she thought about it, and all my mom said was apparently "i'm fine with it, japanese people are ok. except for the fact that they stole everything (i guess in terms of culture lol? and well like booty too) from korea. and china. and never apologized or even acknowledged it."
