the members who are bad in Japanese vs. the ones who are good remains consistent, lol. If GD and TOP had actually gone through with their Japanese promotions, I wonder how they would have managed that.
but yes the original version of the song is pretty much always better, in this case 10x true.
You know that now in every Japanese interview they just stand at the back and nod furiously like they have a clue what's going on; how would they even have managed with the two of them, they'd have been so awkward lol. we've been missing out on a+ otp moments I can feel it.
I thought in it since the previews lol But the difference is that Mr. Z is using this as whey to fusion hip hop and Art, I feel like YG should had tough in something like this for TOP as a concept. Gd is more like caged away fans, with his fans and something for fans. The cage and objects in it are just decoration.
which is ironic considering that that's usually where the money is at.
Now that I think of it, when was the last time they had a proper music and all for Japan? I mean, before there was My Heaven and Let Me Hear Your Voice but... I suppose GD and Big Bang now have big enough of a name that they can manage in this way. and yeah, they probably can.
They got a taste of Dome money, and realized there's no need to put effort in when fans will pay for the same old. Then again, there were at least 3 BIGSHOWs with no new songs before the ALIVE Tour.
I'll never understand YG's Japaneses business. I get that they've decide to focus on a niche market, but at least pretend to care.
Beautiful Hangover but damn, that was all the way back in 2010. It's a shame because I think their japanese songs are amazing. Tell Me Goodbye is a song I still jam to on the regular.
The thing about GD in particular though is that he makes zero effort when it comes to language. Like, at all. So his half-assing Japan promotions doesn't surprise me at all.
I know, I love their Japanese songs. They're among my favourite BB ones.
And it goes to show Jiyong's mind works differently from, say, Seungri's, who studied hard at Japanese to make a name for himself there and during the world tour also went out of his way to interact with overseas fans even though he doesn't speak English that well yet.
Now Seungri clearly has a knack for languages plus is the most 'open' out of the Big Bang members, but he also has a business mind which Jiyong just... doesn't. He dedicates himself entirely to his music and fashion, and can do that because he's very good at it. It would speak for him if he put more effort in learning Japanese etc. (which he did when they debuted in Japan) but now he is at this point where he doesn't need to do that anymore because fans will come to him instead of the other way around.
Seungri's like this all-round kind of person whereas Jiyong is really single-minded (in the sense that music is his priority and not the stuff around it) and they achieve their success in their own way. so tl;dr it would be good of Jiyong to put in more effort but I see why he doesn't.
The problem is that YG pretend that Bigbang are all the artist they had, meaning as soloist, meaning as group so they want to promote them in both countries all the time and is just stupid business plan. This year was perfect to put some effort in a BB japanese album alongside their korean solo work. But there is no management, there is no respect o effort since YGAVEX, so no surprise there.
lmao i seriously don't understand, he and kiko have been fucking around since 2009, how come his japanese is still so atrocious? i guess maybe he just doesn't have an affinity for languages.
same i kept wondering why no one else mentioned it and oh my god that makes it even weirder then ?????? like he's just jumping around in a glass cage ??? how did people standing there not find it awkward ...
that's GD art kind of thing, because being an idol is like living and performing inside a cage of glass, where he can't be free and constantly being watched, he just did that to show that that's the life he's been living and let people know and ponder whether the current treatment of celebrities/famous people is fair or not.
nvm I don't even know what I wrote. I just wanted to try to write something like art review or something but fail miserable, not entering arts is the right decision afterall.
no, that's what I was thinking as well, that in a way it's a metaphor for his life. which to me and most people seems terrible but Jiyong seems pretty comfortable with it or used to it anyway.
I wonder what the fans who partook the shooting think, I honestly would feel uncomfortable, especially with the phone recordings and all (my english is seriously getting worse lately), kinda like being 'used'? I really don't know how to explain it smoothly OTL
well the fans willingly signed up, so I imagine they were happy to do it. and though it would be really uncomfortable for most people, gd most likely also felt more than fine because he's used to it not to mention the kind of person who loves having all eyes on him.
I forever waited the 'Who you?' mv so it was obvious YG would pull a stunt like that. I feel bad for both Korean fans (since this the song they like the most) and Japan fans since they had the right for a proper promotions. GD caged with his fame is his paradox, he look good in the mv but his Japanese still sound atrocious. It will still sell fine since he had the biggest fandom there too.
