The pacing needs a little work and there are too many filler scenes but overall I am really enjoying it, there are lots of laugh out loud moments. And I may have gone overboard on the gifs...

I agree with what you said and what was said over at dramabeans – I think the longer episodes are giving them a bit too much room to work with, so we end up with a lot of padding. it's okay for now, because it just started, but I don't know how that's going to work out further down the line.

I did kind of love the twisty in episode 2, with oppa not being her blood related oppa, and I'm curious to see how that's going to work out. I'm already hella invested in their relationship, mostly because they're just so close that it's hard to see how anyone else (Chil-dong) is gonna be able to get in between them.

all in all it does feel a lot like 1997 rehash, college flavor, but I'm still happy with it. most importantly, it still has that nostalgic and hearty feeling – there's nothing like the 90s to make me feel at home.

Wait did I miss something in the last episode with Chil-dong ? Why is HE the supposed other love interest ?

nahh it's just the feeling I get from the promos and from the other characters!! I could be wrong though! idk just having had the two episodes of setup, I don't see the other boarders as potential love interests for Na-jung, and since Baro is a fairly rookie idol actor, I suspect he won't be the other one. just speculation!

In both his promo poster and in Ep. 0 Chilbong's character profile talks about how he was only interested in baseball, but now he's found something/someone else lol especially in Ep. 0 it kinda blatantly implies that he falls in love with Najung
It looks like Binggrae might also have a crush storyline, but I guess we'll have to wait and see haha

Yissssss

I'm a little disappointed that they're using the same methods as last year "OMG WHO'S THE HUSBAND" ugh please be a little original. And yeah, too mane fillers, I want the story !!!

Anyways, I had so much fun watching the episodes, the way Na Jung and Trash bicker is the best.

my favourite scene so far is when the mom flash backs to the previous roommates. the 1n2d joke, i knew that one of those cups would not be tea. i also feel like it started really slow, esp the first episode. i feel like some scenes are just too long. but i think that it'll get better and im definitely enjoying it. baro is so adorable at the end of ep 2, i just want to put him in my pocket.

I liked it! Go Ara did well, isn't she kinda not considered a good actress? I'm glad I gave '97 a final chance lol.

I had suspicions about Trash and I had spoiled myself but idc it was cool to be right lol.

The old looking student IS. SO. CUTE. What a great character.

Also, when will Hong Suk Chun's sexuality stop being a cameo joke? It happened in Baby Faced Beauty too :/

I agree about Hong Seok Chun's sexuality being used as a joke. I was uncomfortable with his scenes and didn't find them funny.

Lol! Just submitted a discussion post. Should have refreshed the page first.

Anyway, I am IN LOVE with the show! Some scenes do seem a bit slow, with the dialog running on a bit. But I feel like Answer Me is a slice of life drama, so in that sense I feel that the meandering conversations, while not necessary to the overarching plot, feel true to life. I like that scenes are given room to breathe, and we're not rushed from scene to scene, nor rushed through each scene.

I adore Najung. She's loud and spunky and I love how Go Ara is playing her. The winking-and-giggling-to-herself-while-drunk cracks me up so much. Jung Woo is fortifying my love for him as Garbage, ugh. I die for characters like him, so dependable and kind.

Samcheonpo and his mom warm my heart. And how much do I love that awkward and stiff Samcheonpo is bonding with laid back easygoing Haetae?

I'm loving Go Ara in this, and it's the first time I ever thought so for any of her drama roles.

idk i am liking the feel of this drama more than its predecessor, so far. i don't even mind the filler scenes tbh.

i am so in love with this drama, it is my favorite out of the ones airing right now and i like it better than 97.

also it makes me happy that ahra has a good project after being so overlooked for so long.

but ngl i was dissapointed with the brother plot twist, for now i liked better when they were siblings i loved their bond.

the pacing didn't bother me neither did the similarities with reply 1997 (that's exactly what i'm here for lol)
go ara is doing a good job with na jung, i love that they got the same actors for the parents and the rest of the cast seems good too.
the boarding house/college setup has so much potential to be amazing, i can't wait for the next episodes.

I flipped the table once I found out about Trash not being the real brother.

It gave me a real giggle at the end when she tried into a dog. xD

I feel for Oppa already. The other Oppa in 1997 didn't end up with the girl. I love Trash as a character. He's awfully sweet.

They're going to have us wait 20 episodes for the husband's reveal?! Ugh. I'm not sure I'll continue to care at that point.

I absolutely love Trash and Najeong's relationship and I would've loved to see them continue their brother/sister bickering but Trash as a potential love interest is also interesting to see. Haetae & Samcheonpo's relationship is full of lols as well. That argument they had at night was hilarious. And lol at Haetae ordering 40 biscuits. Pretty sure he's going to be one of my favourite characters. Now I can't wait to see more of Bing Geurae.

I like this drama. It's not bad. The flow of the story line isn't exactly that great, but I have trust that it will get better. I like Go Ara's acting. You can see the effort she's putting into her character. The cameos are funny. I really liked the hospital scene with Na Jeong and Jung Woo. That really was a nice and sweet moment.

The first two episodes weren't stellar in any sense, but then again I didn't really get into Answer Me 1997 until after the fourth episode or so.

I didn't realize that Jung Woo not being her real brother was a surprise. I could have sworn Dramabeans wrote an article about them not being related.

I'm not sure how to feel about this one yet. The pacing annoys me but the characters are adorable. I'm Team Jung Woo because he's awesome and needs more leading man type roles. Plus, the relationship between his character and Go Ara's is so sweet. Once the reveal happened, I was sad. With dramas, there tends to be a formula and his character leaning towards first love status. For narrative purposes, I get why Na Jeong might end up won't end up with Trash. Reply 1997 already covered the childhood love thing so the viewers need to see some other kind of love.

I hate the husband guessing game!

yeah, the first episode didn't grab me but the second one does. part of what made 97 different was the story felt to the point, with not a moment wasted (until the later parts).

i do like how the writer lays out the drama, step by step, building up to a resolution at the end of each episode though, which i loved in 97. the list of potential suitors started off with the obvious candidates, and then bam, oppa's on that list too.

I've only watched the prologue and the first episode.
The pace in episode one was kinda slow but enjoyable nonetheless.
Absolutely love Ara here because I never thought she's a good actress before.
She did a really good job as Na-Jung.
Na-Jung and Trash's relationship cracks me up, their bickering and violence towards each other is hilarious.

So...there were some similarities in Reply 1997 and Reply 1994 that I noticed so far in the first two episodes: the main lead has a dead brother/sister; the main lead is spunky, fierce, etc; same mom & dad; the same awkward goat BGM (LOL, I looovveeee this); the siblings-relation twist (brother-brother/brother-sister); all that I LOOOVVVEEEEE in these series.

Although the pace was kinda slower than Relpy 1997, but I'm still in (and still laughing irl) for this drama. I can't wait for the Tiny-G girl's acting as a Seo Tai Ji fan and her interaction with Haitai <3.

I didnt notice that Na-jung is Go Ara untill I finally look at her face reeeaaalllyy close. She did say that the character she's playing now is a challenge, which I took that as her past characters were boring?

I didn't feel the pacing issues as much as everyone else seemed to have, but that's probably because I don't really know much about that kind of stuff. Yeah, there were fillers that needn't have been in there, but one of my few complaints about 1997 was that both the episode runtime and the number of episodes were too short towards the end. Hopefully the filler/pacing problem goes away once the story picks up.
That being said, I was skeptical at first - Najung's brand of fangirling is different from Shiwon's so I wasn't sure if I would find it as easy to enjoy this series. That plus the fact that there weren't a lot of names I recognized to pull me in to watching had me worried (when 1997 first aired, I gave it a try mostly because of Eunji/Inguk/Hoya), but I'm already waiting for Ep. 3. The acting's good, the characters are loveable/relatable and the storyline is honest. I have a soft spot for stories about country youth trying to make their way in Seoul, mostly because that was my dad's life and it reminds me of him, so I'm probably a bit biased there haha
Overall, I'm already in love, I don't think it's overly similar to 1994, and I'm going to continue watching, if only to figure out which one I ship more, NajungxTrash or NajungxChilbong

I like the story line so far and the pacing wasn't too bad. I never get bored of slice of life shows and it's interesting to learn about Korea's culture in 1994 (reading on dramabeans at the same time helps a lot).

I was so disappointed when they revealed that Trash wasn't really her brother tbh. I loved the sibling relationship and it was what set it apart from 1997. The moment they revealed it I just know that Trash is gonna be the husband in the end. Too bad since I was rooting for Chilbong

i don't enjoy it as much as 97. maybe it's the pacing, but i don't really laugh at the joke either. idk. they should try something that differenciate them from 97 i think.
