After previously announcing the unfortunate news that Dongho will be leaving U-KISS, NH Media is offering a bit more insight as they expand on Dongho's reason for leave.

NH Media stated, "[Dongho's departure] was not due to a discord [with the group or the agency]. It is something that Dongho considered for a long time... Since a long time ago, Dongho didn't think the celebrity life was right for him and has discussed this multiple times, so we have been thinking about a future course of action for a long time... [Dongho] initially took a break from his activities, but he officially decided to leave the group on the 16th."

According to NH Media, Dongho halted his activities following his group's Tokyo concert on August 30. But even after the break, his wish to leave the entertainment industry still hadn't changed, so the agency allowed him to leave after considering his wish and the fact that his physical condition seemed to be taking a toll, even despite the fact that Dongho still had 3 years left under the contract.

As it is a very rare occurrence that an agency will allow an artist to leave before the contract's expiration, the agency was asked to explain. A rep said, "We decided to follow his wishes. As much as he expressed his wish not to live as a celebrity anymore, it seems like [Dongho] will not only stop his activities as a singer but in other fields as well. It seems he will start having to think about what he will do from now on."

Although Dongho's departure is a definite setback, U-KISS plan to make their comeback later this month as scheduled

It's nice to see that the agency respected his wish to leave and just let him go...

Agreed. Sad to see him go, but if it's what he wants it's nice the agency was willing to listen.

Im glad the agency were kind enough to let him off the contract. Three more years in a job you don't want to be in +medical issues sounds miserable.

i'm glad his agency decided to respect his wishes especially since his health was such an issue. additionally it would suck to keep working at a job you don't like and how much harder you'd have to work just to put on a brave front to give a decent performance.

As much as I dislike NHM's marketing strategy yadda yadda, I like the fact that they see their artists as human beings. Jaeseop gets to take a break to go to Columbia, Dongho gets to leave, even the boys don't stay together in a dorm. I guess it's a good thing.

As sad as it is for me to see him leave, I'm actually kind of glad he's made this decision. Nice to see that NHM was actually nice enough to listen to his wishes and let him leave.

I was late to the other post, but this goes to reiterate what I was saying about how the company is doing the right thing for their artist, instead of screwing them in the ass with massive fines and other bullshit that's usually written into the contracts, even after the FCC changed the length limit.

I hope this sort of thing trickles down into the other companies, because there's far too many idols who quite literally cannot break contract without ruining their, and their family's, futures. Things need to change, and the mental and physical well being of artists need to come before anything else. It's a foreign concept in the entertainment industry, in any country, but doesn't mean there isn't some hope people will realize good health leads to better creativity and work. And that not everyone can handle the stress of being in the public eye, as well as the lack of privacy, and the rigorous hell the body is put through on a daily basis.

As sad I am to see him leave, I totally understand his decision. But honestly speaking, I can't imagine him wanting to lead a normal life. I mean, the kid is made to entertain. He's entertaining without even trying. A normal life would be too boring for him and his body will ache to stand on the stage again. I could be wrong though so we'll see.

He's entertaining without even trying.

That's what I thought too. He may not have singing talents nor is a great dancer but boy sure knows how to speak and entertain. He has a future in MC-ing and acting. Hopefully he comes around in the future when he's had enough of the quiet life.

Sounds scary to be honest, to leave something you've known practically all your life and start a new chapter from scratch. And more so for him who is U-kiss's most popular member and also one of the most popular idol of his age at one point. But I'm extremely proud of him to make this decision. It's now or never.

It's great that they let him out and all, but I still can't help shuddering at the contract length.

He had 3 years left. And U-KISS debuted 5 years ago when he was just barely 14. I know it's legal over there but still . . . I can't imagine having 8 years of my life signed away as a 9th grader.

I'm surprised the company let him go with that much time left on his contract. I seriously think that companies shouldn't be allowed to debut kids when they're under 18 because they might not fully realize what they're getting themselves into

So the group will go on without him and UKISS fans should be happy and support Dongho's decision. I don't follow this group, but good luck to him and his future
