EXO has now sold more than 900,000 copies of ‘XOXO’ album, closer to hitting the million seller mark

It looks like the million milestone might not be unachievable in this era, after it was revealed that EXO’s first full-length album ‘XOXO’ has now sold over 900,000 copies as of writing.
As of October 11th, EXO’s first full-length album (released on June 3rd) has sold 441,332 copies, with the repackaged version album (released on August 5th) selling 469,641 copies. Adding up both numbers, the total number of copies sold now stands at 910,973.

EXO’s first album ‘XOXO’ continues to be a hit with fans till this day, and the number of copies sold is still on an upward curve. With that in mind, it might be possible that EXO could break the million milestone before the year is up even.
Since Kim Gun Mo’s 7th album and G.O.D’s 4th album back in 2001, no one has managed to crack the million milestone since due to the rampant illegal downloading of music and the fast shrinking music market. With the legalization of music downloads in 2005, EXO could become the first to surpass the million milestone since the ruling was passed.
EXO had managed to sell 740,000 copies by early September, which was within 3 months of its release in June. And this helped EXO to set a new record for the 1st time in 12 years.
EXO has already concluded promotions for their first album, and are now busy preparing for their new album. They will also be performing at ‘SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR III in Beijing’ on October 19th at the Beijing National Stadium in China.

Honestly, everything these netizens are saying are true: from combining albums to the multiple fan meetings. But I mean, it's whatever. I suppose for now that'll be part of EXO's marketing- creating a ridiculous, rabid fan base, getting some big numbers and using that to create hype and grab more money. to be honest, even if we count only the korean albums + repackage it's already more than 500 000 albums sold. It's a lot and it's great for EXO.
And even 250 000 albums sold is great. Not many groups can achieve this.

i guess no one told the netizens about the kiss/hug versions thing lmao it looks like they're mostly complaining about the repackage (which is a dumb thing to complain abt). tbh i'm still trying to figure out why the repackage sold so much, it's so weird a repackage selling more than the first version.

i don't think they'll get to 1 million tho, unless sm really goes all out with the fansigns (they do seem thirsty for that 1 million mark)

I would like to invoke the holy divinity truth-telling power of Heechul and tell these Netizens to sit the hell down with their negativity. I don't know why I keep seeing comments of "blah blah blah fangirls bulk buy" on every post I see of ANY idol reaching ANY achievement with sales. Anybody want to tell me why that's a bad thing, even if it's true, and who it doesn't apply to? If you have fandom chances are someone's bulk buying and if they aren't then you probably suck. The album was quality and I can see why they'd count both versions considering the minor differences between the two. My question is are they counting both language versions in that number?

i do give them and SMe props for really hitting that uncharted mark for semi rookies. it is a feat, but considering all the factors:
1. sme's super push with marketing and fanmeets
2. four albums counted as one
3. they really were everywhere
4. their hungry fans who were starved for a year
5. decent songs on the repackage
6. the usual sme strategy of using photocards in the albums (gotta collect them all)

they will hit a million. it is why SMe is announcing this. it is just another marketing ploy....media play.

it would be interesting to see SMe put this much effort their other groups. they do push SNSD, but not like they did before. now they let the bigger groups tend to fend for themselves after a release.

they were trying with Shinee this year. but if they were pushing for Shinee to dominate the Gayo's they underestimated what a year absence of Exo will do to their fans.

(and i'm still pissy at SMe not even announcing SS5 happening in Mexico still or even giving props to them selling out within hours for a non asian event)
