SISTAR opened their solo concert 'S' at Olympic Hall, Seoul on the 12th with their latest hit song, "Give It To Me", "Girl Do It", and "Push Push". The girls also performed special stages including Hyorin and Soyu's inspiring cover of Rihanna's "Diamonds". Hyorin and Bora also came together as SISTAR19 to perform "Ma Boy" and "Gone Not Around Any Longer".

Bora also showcased her rapping skills to Lee Hyori's "Miss Korea", Soyu let her vocal chops loose in Rihanna's "We Found Love", Dasom soothed fans with her gentle charms through her cover of Corinne Bailey Rae's "Like A Star", and Hyorin sang her role model Beyonce's "End of Time". K.Will and Baek Ji Young also made special guest appearances to show their support.

Soyu shared, "I was nervous because this is our 2nd concert. I was so excited that I didn't know what I was doing on stage. It was an overwhelmingly happy concert. I want to hold more concerts in the future." Bora shared, "I had fun writing my own rap lyrics and re-arranging songs for our solo stages. I was really excited to see the audience having fun during our special stages."

Dasom also defined the title of their concert, "Like the letter 'S' which stands for sexy, swag, special, and more, we want to show a sexy, cute, and charismatic image." The 'S' also stands for SISTAR, of course!

Article: 'Concert' SISTAR captivates 4,000 people with their charms

Source: OSEN via Naver

1. [+418, -37] SISTAR has daebak digital and brand power but it's so upsetting that they don't have a fandom ㅠㅠ

2. [+360, -65] There were a lot of empty seats ㅋㅋ and free ticket giveaways too.. I think less than 2,000 people actually paid for their tickets

3. [+268, -28] The concert hall doesn't even hold 4,000 seats... and the concert didn't even sell out, so how exactly did they captivate 4,000 people?

4. [+125, -23] I'm truly confused as to whether this group is really popular or not

5. [+109, -8] The reason SISTAR will never be able to make it to the top is because they have the public recognition that they need but an extremely weak fandom... They need fandom power for physical sales, which they don't have.

6. [+97, -11] SISTAR has such a small fandom compared to the public recognition they've achieved

1. [+660, -123] Korea's best girl group...?

2. [+555, -107] Who're you calling Korea's best girl groupㅡㅡ

3. [+496, -95] The title's meant to make us laugh, right?

4. [+72, -22] What a lie ㅋㅋ Never advanced overseas, sajaegis in the domestic market, has no physical sales, has no fandom...

5. [+64, -22] Isn't the one top right now Soshi?

6. [+57, -17] Korea's best girl group is not SISTAR but SNSD... No matter how much popularity SISTAR achieves, they have a long way to go if they want to catch up with SNSD.

damnnn, knetizens are gulping the sour truth tea.

but yeah, i agree with them. but i don't feel sistar is a 'group', they seem like 4 girls with great varied talent. they kind of overshadow each other. all of them are probs going to go solo in their own fields sooner rather than later...

I agree. They don't seem to mesh well.

internationally, we don't get to see how they mesh together because there isn't any subbing team. as of yet, SISTAR don't have many fangirls (y'know the people that put together gif sets and film their behind the scenes moments) but they are close and have a good relationship

well tbh i think it's fair in terms of lines bc dasom is a weak singer imo. they could definitely try and promote her in different ways though.

honestly soyu should get more lines in their songs bc she has a much stronger voice than dasom. hyorin always seems to carry their songs and i don't think she really needs to when they have another good vocalist in the group.

I actually thought Soyou doesn't sing much but I was surprised after listening to the Give It To Me album (the first SISTAR album I fully listened to) that she actually gets a lot of parts. After being able to differentiate their voices, to me it sounded like 50% Hyorin, 45% Soyou, and 5% Dasom for the singing. Soyou carries the songs almost as much as Hyorin does, but her voice is just not as powerful/distinguishable/skillful as Hyorin's, so I think that's why people assume Hyorin is singing most of it.

I love sistar but... "4 years into debut', the reason SISTAR is chosen as the best girl group" that doesn't make any sense, it just makes me wonder how a group of their supposed status is only able to gather 3k people.

I've never believed the accusations against brave brothers and their chart manipulation with Sistar, but seeing how this concert did makes their digital sales suspicious.

And netizens were saying the truth.

I don't think I can ever believe those accusations considering they were so vague and I'm reading from fansites that the venue only held 3,000 people. I think this is another case of Starship's ambitious media play tbh

maybe that's true bc it makes no sense to me that they can't gather more than 3k people for a concert

Except they've had songs from Double Sidekick that have been just as big their other songs. Digital manipulation isn't true.

To me, it seems like Sistar19 is more popular than Sistar and reached the general public that the whole group Sistar hasn't. An example of this would be the Sistar29 skit on the popular Gag Concert.

But that still doesn't fully explain this. They surely must have more fans than this.

i thought they were on a really upward trend once they came out with alone? and give it to me did well too?

maybe idk the whole background cause i only started liking them since alone. but i would assume compared to their so cool era, they definitely gained a lot more fans?

from what i can tell, they have public recognition, especially sistar19 (gone not around any longer popped up in dramas and stuff), but they don't actually have a (strong) fanbase. when i think about it too, i've never really come across a sistar fan either. they do pretty well, but they have no dedicated fandom.

Hyorin and Soyu's inspiring cover of Rihanna's "Diamonds".

are there any fancams? I had to navigate Korean message boards with my shitty google translate skills to find cams for their last concert.

as a int'l fan, I think that Starship really worked against them for this concert. Yeah, the S concert was announced in August but the promotion was literally one poster on their twitter and a teaser made up of unused footage from their last concert's VCR stage. There weren't any articles or variety show appearances centered around promotion which is fine when you're a top tier group but SISTAR are always hovering on this weird middle tier by themselves.

and if you breakdown a group's fandom into: antis, casual fans, stans and saesangs, SISTAR's individual fandom could be described as: there are more casual fans than antis, more antis than stans, and more stans than saesang fans.

the reason I point this out is because they have literally been performing their most popular material at least 4 times a week for the past two months at various festivals, universities, kpop concerts, etc.

So if you're a stan, in Korea, and you go to all of these festivals that they perform at you'll still probably want to go to their concert. but as a casual fan, there's no need to buy another ticket to their concert bc you've probably already seen them perform just a week ago.

for Starship, I think that SISTAR has already achieved all they wanted the girls to but if they put a little more effort into the creation of stans and fangirls, they could be so, so popular.

also L O L at netizens always falling for journalists' trolling. I've never seen people get so tweaked than when SISTAR appear in national girl group articles.

I went to this concert... It wasn't all that great. In fact the guests outsung Sistar. But on the other hand, the fanservice was AMAZING - beats a lot of other concerts I've been to fanservice-wise

I'll give a FULL recap with lots of commentary and more details (i'm leaving a lot out) on Green Tea Graffiti (http://greenteagraffiti.com)

I definitely was skeptical about the quality just bc (and I say this in the comment above this) they had been performing nonstop in festivals for almost two months without rest up until the week before the concert. I mean, I think SISTAR are fantastic but they aren't superhuman
