After appealing his original sentence, Go Young Wook (37) has received a reduced sentence for the criminal charge of sexually assaulting minors.

The Seoul High Court stated on the 27th, "We nullified Go Young Wook's original sentence and gave him the minimum sentence."

"The original 5-year prison sentence was reduced to 2-and-a-half years. The period that his personal records will be made public has also been reduced from 7 to 5 years, and the original sentence of 10 years of electronic anklet wear will be reduced to 3 years."

This came about as this time around, the court found him only guilty of 1 out of the 3 cases in the appeal, while he was found guilty of all of his charges in the original trial. He was previously sentenced to 5 years in prison and 10 years of electronic anklet wear as well as having his record made public for 7 years. However, he appealed to fight his original sentencing and succeeded.

During the appeals hearing held back on August 28, the victims who were supposed to serve as witnesses did not appear. Go Young Wook's lawyer at the time stated, "There are many contradictions in A's testimony. The prosecution misconceives the real relationship [between the victims and defendant], so we ask for the defendant to receive a non-guilty verdict."

Although Go Young Wook insisted since the beginning that he was not at fault because there was consent, he changed his stance and expressed remorse, even writing a letter to present to the court recently on September 23. Taking into consideration that he seems to be deeply reflecting and this is his first offense as well as the fact that he will be dealing with hard times as a well-known public figure, the court awarded him a reduced sentence during the appeals.

For those just catching up, the celebrity in question was accused of sexually assaulting 3 minors, as young as 13 years of age, a total of 5 times between July 2010 to December 2012.

This just makes it harder for other victims to speak up. I mean, even during the course of the police investigation 2 original plaintiffs dropped their charges.

It was after Dongwoo (as his alter-ego, Dragwoo) did Miss A's Bad Girl, Good Girl dance in Wowman. They were sitting next to each other at a table (it was supposed to be like a date or something, I don't get the premise of the show at all) and he kept putting his hand on Dongwoo's--wearing short shorts--thighs and he might have brushed up on peen, but idk because the clip doesn't exist on the internet anymore. It was uncomfortable to watch even then because guy or girl or variety show or whatever, I don't think it's ever appropriate for a stranger to put his hands on someone's thigh, especially someone's bare thigh.

It's always the victim's fault. Their age, the way they dress, the way they act, where they were, who they were (not) with, what they said, the time they were out, the way they looked at a guy, how hard they fought, how loud their protest was, their sexual history, their dating history, their reputation, etc., etc., etc.

I don't know anything more than what I read here about this case, but I can pretty much imagine what the defense came up with: the girls were star-struck and came on to the Defendant and he, flattered by the attention, made a mistake and did some things he shouldn't have but he came to his senses and told them he wanted to stop but they didn't want to and they threatened to go to the press and tell all if he didn't keep doing things with them and giving them things. Am I close? Am I exactly right?
