After Tiffany of Girls’ Generation was “molested” on television from unintentional groping and an unusually friendly hand, there has been a slightly more direct case for on-screen troubles.
KBS 2TV’s “Road Show! Quiz Expedition” has been swept up in controversy with accusations of molestation.
“Quiz Expedition” travels around universities around Korea and challenges students to win a scholarship of 5 million Won ($3500 US). KBS broadcast, without editing, a student forcing himself on and kissing Kara member Nicole at Sejong University on the 15th.
Kim, a member of university’s Comedy Club, offered to show a personal talent for the cameras and asked Nicole to assist him. While she was distracted, he kissed her, in what is described “기습키스”, or “ambush kiss”. Nicole is said to have been shocked to have been kissed by a strange man and was seen running in amongst the show judges, and images were broadcast of her friends from Kara comforting her.
Netizens have been divided on the matter since the broadcast. The Q&A section on the homepage for “Quiz Expedition” has become an open ground for debate. One side of the netizens called it “an aegyo filled prank”, while the other call it “outright molestation” and have criticised the production team and the students involved.
