Although it's hard to notice on TV, Ladies' Code's Sojung showed just how skinny she has gotten underneath her baggy clothes and revealed the shocking consequences of her extreme diet.

On the September 3rd broadcast of 'Incarnation', Sojung shared, "The reason I started my diet was because I met my members for the first time and they were all so pretty. But I don't have a pretty face. Only my voice is like that. [When I featured on 'Voice Korea'], I was 49 kg (~108 lbs.) but I lost 12 kg (~26 lbs.). Honestly, 49 kg is a normal weight but when I saw myself on TV, I received a big shock. I thought to myself that even with this figure, I come out this big on TV. Nothing fits me right now. I am a size 33." RiSe shared, "Whenever we shoot a pictorial, they slim down our figures through editing. But for Sojung, they have to widen her figure."

Sojung shared, "I don't have the thought of wanting to eat. I hated that I wanted to eat something so I didn't eat anything. I didn't eat anything and I just worked out. I just didn't eat. I used to drink only water all day. For 2-3 days, I ate only 5 cherry tomatoes. I just hated myself when I wanted to eat. When I get hungry, my stomach starts growling. But I would tell my stomach that I wasn't hungry. I would tell my stomach, 'I'm not hungry so why are you growling?' Now that I look back on it, I wonder why I did all that."

"When I first started my diet, I work out and didn't eat. I would feel dizzy and my hand would shake. I was washing myself in the shower when I felt like my body was breaking apart. I was wiping my body with a towel but it hurt so much..."

"This is a sensitive topic but when you start a diet, women experience something once-a-month. But I didn't have my period for close to a year. At first, I thought it was comfortable. But since I didn't have it for close to a year, I started to get worried. So I went to the hospital and the doctors told me that my physical condition became like the body of a 5th grade student in elementary school. They told me that my hormone levels dropped to the floor. I asked them what that means and they told me that my hormones are on the level of a woman who is going through menopause. I asked them what should I do? They told me that if I don't increase my body fat by 5 kg, I might have to live like that forever. Right now, I only have 5 kg (~11 lbs.) of body fat throughout my whole body. When I heard that, I realized that this wasn't right."

She assured fans, "I'm almost fully recovered now and I'm above 40 kg (~88 lbs.)", leading the MCs and guests to advise her to gain more weight as they're concerned for her health.

:(

I'm happy to hear she seems to be doing better. I hope she continues to recover fully and is able to look after her health.

I still can't understand why none of these idols have at least some kind of a nutritionist who regulates their diets and make sure they eat enough. They make them go through these crazy schedules daily yet there is no one to feed them and give them the energy they need.

I guess that's one point in YG's favour, their trainer seems pretty serious about 2ne1 eating properly and does shit like refuting a news story that said bom only ate watermelon for a diet (i think that's right, idk i might be confusing a few different people here)

It's also crazy that no one in her management looked after her. If she was close to menopause... she must have been really thin for a while.
I wish Korean entertainment would stop with this diet craze and allow idols (girls and boys) to be whatever they are, weight included. They're just denying all the medical problems that are going to follow once they will age...

And I'm really, really glad that she's better (I hope she's correctly followed) and that she's open to talk about it. It needs to be discussed more!

This is so sad but its great how open she is about the consequences so when girls read this they will see how sick she got and how its a very serious thing. Slaydies code and her voice are amazing so I hope she continues to get better.

I applaud her for speaking honeslt about this. I'm glad she went to a doctor when she did becxause it could have permanently fucked up her reproductive system and muscles.

She looks like Ren....

Yeah, but for her to have dieted so much that she didn't get her cycle is Bad, with a capital b. I know girls who cycles hardly come because of their athletic schedules and other things, but even then it's not the best thing and considering she's so young, I hope she/her company/the people around her watch out for this because it could mess her up later in life.

The problem is that these things happen in the Korean entertainment industry and then people kind of laugh it away? Not having your period for over a year is a sign that your general health is in FUCKING DANGER. What puzzles me even more is that it didn't occur to her to go to a doctor sooner. Fucking hell, thin obsessions.

Aww Rise's face in those photos :( I hope she gets to have proper meals amidst their crazy comeback schedules and regularly follows up with a doctor/nutritionist.

A lot of the comments on the MV and on this AKP article were pissing me off though. She obviously had an ED so I'm not sure a simple "She's too skinny she should eat more" comment is constructive in any form? I'm so proud she talked about this on tv though, and I'm glad they didn't fixate on her weight but rather the impact her diet had on her well-being.

(Tbh I weigh lighter than she did even after she lost 12kg and even though I'm naturally skinny and my cycles are normal etc. I'm still really worried my weight may affect my health in the future.)

thats completely different. there will always be days when we have no appetite, but she basically forced herself not to eat and starved all the time.

Wonder if it was intentional she made it sound like it was her decision to 'diet'. I just assumed her management either told her or put extreme pressure on her to lose weight.

Tbh, I've always wondered if stuff like this wouldn't occur with the diets these girls are on.
And yes, not having your period is one of the prime physical symptoms of malnourishment and/or anorexia.

TT it's anorexia, no?

this just brings back bad memories of a good friend who went on an extreme diet, and only chugged coke light and chewed gum. she only started heeding my advice when her hair fell out in clumps, and her mum grounded her to make sure she ate all 3 meals.
