2PM accounts for 79.91% of JYP Entertainment's profits in first half of 2013

After JYP Entertainment's US branch suffered a heavy blow, the company ended up in the red for the past fiscal year.

According to Korea's Financial Supervisory Service, in the beginning of the year, JYP Entertainment earned 9,900,000,000 KRW (approximately $8,890,000 USD) in sales, and 2,000,000,000 KRW (approximately $1,796,000 USD) in net profit. However, taking last year into account, the company had a net loss of 400,000,000 KRW (approximately $359,200 USD). The loss came from JYP's United States branch JYP Entertainment Corporation, where JYP holds 90% of the stocks.

Because of this, the JYP Entertainment stock on the KOSDAQ fell 6% to 16,620 KRW (approximately $15 USD). JYP Entertainment still has some risk because of the fact that 2PM makes up most of JYP Entertainment's profits. 2PM was responsible for 61.63% of JYP Entertainment profits in 2011, which rose to 72.42% in 2012. So far in 2013, it rose to an even higher 79.91%.

JYP Entertainment to debut a new girl group this year + possible miss A comeback

JYP Entertainment has big plans for the second half of 2013!

Sunmi's having a pretty successful solo promotion with "24 Hours", and J.Y. Park himself will make his return. Additionally, JYP Entertainment will be continuing on their march with a new girl group! Reportedly, the current plan is for the new girl group to debut around in October. Since the Wonder Girls are on an indefinite hiatus, they're expected to take the baton next.

miss A is also going to have a comeback soon! Nothing is confirmed for sure yet, but the girls are planning to release a song before the end of the year.

JYPE refutes rumors of Wonder Girls' disbandment

Whispers and speculations have been afloat since the announcement of Sun's marriage that Wonder Girls may be disbanding. However, JYP Entertainment refuted the rumors once again, revealing that the Wonder Girls have yet to discuss any plans for their disbandment.

The speculations surrounding their possible disbandment were brought up by insiders who stated that Yenny, Yubin, and Sohee are currently thinking over the renewal of their contract once it expires this year or early next year. It has also been revealed that Yenny wants to continue learning as a songwriter under JYP Entertainment, Sohee wants to expand on her budding acting career while the other members plan to continue on their individual activities as well. Sun is also residing in Canada with her husband as an expectant mother and according to a close friend, plans to return to Haiti as a missionary six months after giving birth, leaving the possibility of the Wonder Girls performing on one stage up in the air.

JYP Entertainment responded on the 29th, "The [Wonder Girls] are currently in the middle of their individual activities, and like we've said since the beginning, there hasn't been any internal talk about the disbandment of the Wonder Girls."

The agency also didn't lead fans on too much though, as they stated realistically, "Although they are not disbanding, it will be difficult for them to return to the stage in the same way they used to... The members plan to focus on their individual activities for the moment."

These long breaks are what kills them. Usually during their "breaks" it's Suzy doing a drama/movie and the other girls... barely anything. Fei had her shows for a bit, but what about Jia/Min? Could've had a sub-unit before Jia went movie filming... They really need to at least have more outside/individual activities if they're not promoting songs, keep them ALL in the public eye (and no, not by selcas or twerking away)

seriously jype, this is NOT the time to debut a new group if you can't even manage your current idols properly. i am butthurt for miss a because they could have been bigger than they are right now. they had an awesome debut but no, you just had to waste that opportunity to make them grow. now, we don't even get any news on princess joo anymore. and jj project :(

the company's depending too much on 2PM (and Suzy) right now. i don't know, but it seems a little risky. what with 2PM having to enlist someday, so unless they start to manage their other groups properly and grow the fandom, the company is in danger of a huge loss (there's a rumor 2PM's extended their contract to 3 more years though so they have until 2018 to work on their other groups). all the money hottests spend on 2PM basically goes to other artists/stuff in the company, so you better invest and use that money properly, jype.
