omonatheydid | Sooyoung is a Flawless Angel, Volunteers for Korea Retinitis Pigmentosa Society

On August 24th, Sooyoung volunteered for an event held by the Korea Retinitis Pigmentosa Society (KRPS), a non-profit organization that provides aid to those suffering from retinitis pigmentosa, a set of rare genetic eye diseases. Amidst her busy schedule and many overseas activities, Sooyoung actively made time to support the KRPS and her father, Choi Jeong-nam, who is the head of this organization. In the pictures, Sooyoung is seen taking care of the food distribution for the attendees, holding a speech with her father, and cheerfully talking to the attendees.

On April 14, 2012, Taeyeon, Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun were appointed ambassadors for the KRPS. Soshified supported the KRPS as well by donating a total amount of $15,103 to commemorate Girls’ Generation’s fifth anniversary. On September 19th, 2012, Sooyoung’s father, sent a letter of appreciation to Soshified to thank Soshified for its contributions.

Sooyoung has spoken several times about retinitis pigmentosa and most recently talked about it in an interview for “Elle” magazine.

sobbing because sooyoung is literally too perfect for words. i love how the entire choi family is helping people who are also affected by this and that sooyoung is using her status as an idol to bring more attention to such a rare disease. perfectperfectperfect ;~;
