Snowpiercer 설국열차 has been set as the closing film of the 39th Deauville American Film Festival (30 Aug — 8 Sep 2013). It is the science fiction film's first announced international public screening.
The English-language South Korean film, about an uprising on a train among the last survivors of the human race, will have its international premiere on 7 Sep in the presence of director BONG Joon-ho 봉준호 | 奉俊昊.
There are no other Asian films in the selection of the French festival that launched in 1975 as a celebration of North American cinema. The seaside resort also hosts an Asian film festival in March.
Snowpiercer will open in France on 30 Oct through Wild Side Films in association with Le Pacte. The Deauville festival is organised by Cinema Public Films | Le Public Système Cinéma, that is also the film's local public relations firm.
By Tuesday night, Snowpiercer had taken ₩59.8 billion (US$53.5 million) on 8.35 million admissions in South Korea.

Date: 2013-08-22 05:15 pm (UTC)ugh I don't understand why I should have to watch anything other than the original... it's an English-language film, why can't English-speaking nations have it screened in its entirety... so dumb
