'WIN', YGE's survival program between the two new boy groups, to start airing next week!

For those anxiously awaiting the new boy groups from YG Entertainment, there's some exciting news in store! The program has confirmed an airing date and it's coming up rather soon, August 23 to be exact.

As mentioned before, the program will be called 'WIN' ('Who Is Next?') and it'll be of a survival program format plotting team A and team B against one another.

Team A has an average age of 20, and includes familiar faces like Kang Seung Yoon as well as 'K-Pop Star's Lee Seung Hoon and three others, for a total of 5 members. Team B has an average age of 17 and includes members like B.I, who was the child rapper featured in MC Mong's "Indian Boy", 'K-Pop Star' contestant Goo Jun Hwae, and 4 others, for a total of 6 members.

Viewers will cast their votes to determine the final winner of the show between the two teams and the winning team will debut right away with the name of 'Winner'. The debut of the losing team will be postponed indefinitely once again.

For the theme song of the survival program, the intro portion of G-Dragon's new song "Shake Up the World" will be used. The idol himself as well as Taeyang will be participating in the battle process to help out their hoobaes as well.

The press conference regarding the show will be held on the 20th by Yang Hyun Suk, who will reveal plans for the program as well as revealing details about how it will proceed. The members of Team A and Team B will also be revealed to the public for the first time at this event, so you won't want to miss out!

'WIN' will be made up of 10 episodes and it will air through Mnet and tvN starting on the 23rd at 10PM KST.

it's probably money. yg really need to establish a new boy band if big bang members have to go into the army and temporarily stop promoting. their activities make up the majority of the company's revenue. also to "replace" big bang in the long term. all kpop groups have a shelf life (sm at least are aware of this).

Well YG is obviously setting up the Group A for a debut, but this is a good way to build a fandom also for the group B and then debut them in next year instead of having to wait for years to debut. However, if group B somehow ends up winning I have a feeling that group A will be scrapped 'cause their age.

(Also I have a feeling that in the long haul YG is planning group B as Big Bang replacement with B.I. becoming second GD in the industry and group A will be SHINee/Beast type of middling success)

So this is basically a ploy to set a fandom up for Team B, since A is already established. So in the end if they win or not, YG still wins cause everyone always comes out with stans and instant buyers. Though if B wins will be even better for YG since both teams will obviously be pulling in more than KSY is right now from the get go.

Both of the groups are going to have a high demand after this show, I'm pretty sure. YG trainees are never absolute rubbish, the audience will bond with all of the kids and this time around it's not just one person that's gonna get the boot. They will both gain substantial fanbases. The problem is that instead of using the losing team's popularity to debut them soon-ish as well, they will lose the hype because YG can't manage a lot of people at the same time to save his life.
