Following Kim Yong Man and Shin Jung Hwan's gambling woes that shook the entertainment industry previously, it has been revealed that there are additional celebrities who are currently being suspected of illegal sports gambling.

Various media outlets reported on the 15th, "8 celebrities are currently under suspicion of illegal gambling."

A few insiders from the entertainment industry as well as from the prosecution revealed bits of info, mentioning that many of the 8 are well known names. They are said to include entertainers from all areas including singers, with some even being idols, while others are comedians, and one is even an MC of a show.

It's said the names were discovered while investigating the bank accounts of brokers who connect people with the illegal gambling sites.

An insider commented, "There are thousands of illegal gambling sites being operated and if all the celebrities who are suspected of having gambled through these sites are investigated, there is a big possibility that it may grow to include practically half of the entertainment industry."

"The prosecution is currently confirming the deposits and withdrawals of the suspected celebrities' bank accounts... Once they get an overall picture, it's expected that they'll soon start summoning them for questioning," another source added.

Still upset over Miss Shin. Now that Chun Myunghoon is starting to actively get back into variety, I sometimes reminisce over those days. With that said, praying it's not another fav.

Not surprised. I had a friend who got into illegal sports gambling during college and it was so bad he had to make his parents pay for it in the end. It can get really addicting especially when you know you have some money to spare for it.. =|

Hope it's no one I like, but I don't think I'd be surprised if it's just the usual idol out there. Gambling chooses no one.

A lot of people gamble illegally but I get the impression that it's a more serious matter in Korea than here in Singapore because of all these articles.

Seriously? That's so wrong. Korea needs to have their priorities straight. Before our casinos opened, gambling is prohibited in Singapore too but we could gamble on cruise ships and overseas.

Funny thing is that there are casinos here IN Korea....but Koreans can't go into the them.

Tots makes sense.

Can someone please explain why Korea is so harsh on gambling? And please don't say it destroys lives when loan sharks operate freely and cause countless people to commit suicide. it just seems abit over the top.

According to my vast K drama knowledge, gangsters run everything related to gambling or loans. I'm guessing they don't want gangster oppas turning all of their cute daughters into prostitutes.

I'm kidding but there is probably some subliminal truth in there somewhere

Do they get in trouble if they go to a place where gambling is legal? Like Las Vegas? I don't understand how they would find out.
