How do they even come up with things to complain about?

Petty fans are petty.

they recently changed the formula, though, didn't they? i think they made it fairer, although some would argue that it's biased toward sm artists because album sales are weighed heavier than they used to be. i'd honestly like to hear what they think is so unfair about it, because i can't think of what could be a fairer formula. it's something like digital sales + album sales + broadcast frequency + audience poll, right? what do they want?

sounds like butthurt fans to me.

idk, i seem to remember the old formula only counting album sales a little, or only counting them for the monthly ranking, or something like that. because didn't dbsk only win with mirotic like, once? they had insane album sales, but really low digital sales, while wonder girls had really high digital sales and lower album sales and kept winning. idk, i could be remembering wrong though.

yeah, at least they publish their formula, and it seems fair to me. what the inkigayo mutizen is based on, no one even knows, and mcountdown seems to award arbitrarily, imo.

Inkigayo and Mnet actually have something similar. Only Music Bank used digital charts for their shows before and then computed everything monthly. They have it in their website.

Mnet, too. They have the same criteria, but the percentage I don't know.

yeah, i figured they would have a similar formula, but mubank shows the points for each category, so you can see how it adds up. do inki and mcountdown have the points and stuff displayed somewhere on their website? i've only ever seen the mcountdown poll, which never seems to have much effect anyway.

who even cares getting #1 on music shows is like getting #1 on TRL it doesnt even matter! even smash hit #1 legendary groups don't get #1 on those things!!

Well, it would all be solved if they have something like Billboard in the US. They count from album sales, digital sales, radio airplays, etc... Oricon is based on albums sales only but it's the most important chart in Japan. I dunno for Korea. They should make one.
