SNSD sells 100k for the 3rd time

Popular group So Nyeo Shi Dae has achieved their 3rd consecutive 100k album sales with their comeback 2nd minialbum ‘Tell Me Your Wish’.

SM Entertainment said on 30th July, “The girls’ 2nd minialbum released on 29th June has sold over 100,497 copies as of 28th July.” This will make it their 3rd 100k album sales after their 1st album and 1st minialbum.

The girls are not only dominating in the album sales chart but also on music charts with the title song ‘Tell Me Your Wish’ off this new 2nd minialbum on and offline.

idk.. considering that sm has to pay to keep 9 girls fed, dressed, housed, etc, etc...
they don't make much profit difference from say the wonder girls who sold 50,000(?) and jyp only needs to pay for 5 girls.

if that makes sense at all.

Like super junior does well in sales but hot damn, sm has to pay for 13 men!!

it is a really good achievement though, especially for a girl group.

If the K-pop industry is any similar to the Western music industry, then the record sales don't pay for anything. It's the concert money that generates profit.

yeah, basically. plus variety shows, etc. apparently big bang, wonder girls, and snsd have the highest appearance fees in the business, but i've noticed that yg and jyp see a high appearance fee as a good way to be selective about what activities they do, while sm sees a high appearance fee as a really good way to have snsd perform at every single function, appear on every single show, and, i'm guessing, make a ton of money.

It is probably more than enough to cover their expenses. Plus they have tons of endorsements.

Since the record industry there is very different from the US I am not sure but most artists make the money off of endorsements and concerts.
