YG Entertainment will partner with Samsung Electronics to advance into China, according to TV Report.

On July 24, YG Entertainment CEO Yang Min Suk (younger brother of Yang Hyun Suk) was at the Conrad Beijing Hotel to celebrate the birth of “YG Family Channel”. Other important figures such as Ju Hyang Yang from Youkou Tudou Incorporated and Park Jung Joon, director of the Samsung Electronics marketing team based in China, were present. Samsung is YG Entertainment’s official sponsor for the “YG Family Channel.” This first project is meant to strengthen the Hallyu influence in China, especially within the younger generation.

At the Conrad Beijing Hotel, Yang Min Suk announced in Chinese, “For the past ten years, there were many opportunities in China. There were also many struggles. I feel very good about this collaboration between YG Entertainment, Samsung, and Youkou Tudou.”

He added, “We will do our best to deliver various media content on YG’s Channel through Youkou to spread Korean, Chinese, and Asian culture.” The channel will feature various artists’ and groups’ music videos, such as 2NE1 and Psy. Viewers will also be able to see interviews, behind-the-scenes videos, and exclusive content such as Big Bang‘s World Tour documentary.

His concluding remarks were, “YG’s journey through China has just begun. We will explore China’s vast land and its beauty, and we’ll meet our fans along the way.

So are they debuting in China or just releasing Korean stuff and basically concerts and stuff? Kpop as a whole really should have more concerts in China.

YG is always really good at getting some other company to pay their promos.

YG is not going to take well in China. Hip-Hop is not remotely popular in China. Mainstream Mandopop is all very ballady and slow. Plus YG has like no Chinese acts at all, or Chinese trainees. This is gonna be a major flop.

out of the big 3, yge is the most homogeneously korean. i think they have some a couple thai trainees (including the one in their new girl group) but that's as diverse as it gets~

yge probs just going to do concerts and released subbed videos and etc

It really bothers me how out of the big 3, YG pushes all this diversity schtick the most and blatantly appropriates black culture and yet they're actually the least multicultural.
Then they expect to dominate the world or whatever but this is an old, beaten issue so oh well.

It sounds like they are just catering to the hallyu market that is already there. The same thing SM is trying to do with SNSD in america. if that ever happens.

This. I legit do not see these companies trying to understand that market at all. There are so many acts they could sign but theyre just going to brute force it there and that only works for so long

ummm.... I don't think that's true. There's plenty of singers that sing dance and upbeat songs that are popular in China. Also if everybody is one way..... then doing it the other way will get you noticed more!

I know big bang and Gdragon is super popular in China even amongst guys
