SBS launches a new battle program for singers, CL is expected to participate in recording

SBS will be launching an entertainment program where singers battle similar to MBC’s ‘I am a Singer’ & KBS’s ‘Immortal Song’.

SBS officials revealed on the 24th that “the pilot of ‘Super Match’ is expected to air next month."

He reveals, “The first recording will be held tomorrow. Although it’s only a pilot episode, we are expecting to schedule regular broadcasts of the show in the future."

‘Super Match’ is known to be similar in format to ‘Immortal Song’ where a winner is picked each episode and will not be like ‘I am a Singer’ where contestants are eliminated each round. It will also be recorded and not be a live broadcast program.

It is reported that ‘Super Match’ will feature a total of 10 teams of both senior and junior singers, who will choose their own songs and will compete through their performance of that song. Currently, it is known that Yang Hee Eun, YB, Lee Seung Hwan, Dynamic Duo, Clazziquai, 2NE1’s CL etc will be participating in the recording.

The recording on the coming 25th will be held at the SBS Prism Centre and if all goes as planned, it is expected that the first broadcast will occur sometime mid-August.

All eyes are on SBS’ ‘Super Match’ to see how it will set itself apart from existing singer battle programs, MBC’s ‘I am a Singer’ & KBS’s ‘Immortal Song’.

Hoping CL takes part as the junior singer (are they being paired in that manner? junior singer + senior mentor?). I want to see lots of nugus on this show, Immortal Song has done a pretty good job at exposing some really talented idols to the general public.

My thoughts, too. I mean well, CL can definitely sing but I totally agree that Minzy's vocal dynamics register better on lives. However, CL is more popular among the two and she'll definitely add color and buzz on the pilot for joining a celeb contest for the 1st time so let's wait until they actually let Minzy do her thing in future eps (hopefully).

Why did I just read a page of comment dissing CL??? She can actually sing...and it makes sense that the Leader of 2NE1 would be the one to go on a new show first.

Minzy will go on shows too. I mean I have only seen Minzy do dance stages solo so what is this inclination to throw her into shows alone?

YG is trying to get 2NE1 on all over the variety circuit and Minzy will go on shows...it's not a either/or zero sum game situation. It's all for 2NE1.

CL is the front person and charismatic performer of 2NE1 but she is an idol so if she loses it's not a big deal.
