Eh, I try not to judge them too harshly if they vote it a concern or not. There's been a lot of other idols/actors who I'm big fans of (recently Lee Hyori and Fuji Mina) who have voted things not as a concern when I thought it was.
Were those concerns about actual issues like racism though? I mean "My mom has 3000 wine bottles!!!!" isn't really the same as the things this guy is describing...
I can't be too mad at him for voting "not a concern" when the winning (or let's say "winning") person is dealing with his totally irrational and stubborn father. It's not that racism in Korea isn't a concern, but at least Stanley can *sometimes* change people's minds, while the nothing on heaven or earth is changing the father's mind.
On the other hand I thought Ryeowook should have stuck with his guns about the mother's wine hobby not being a concern. It's a crazy thing she's doing, but she has a dream!!!
I didn't like how they tried to minimize his problem. The audience made moaning sounds like "ah that's a shame" but no one actually said, "how you're being treated is wrong". I'm just hoping one day a show really surprises me by taking a bold stand against things of this nature instead of playing it safe for fear of alienating viewers.
I have a different view on the medicinal wine making mom. She said on the show that she's not doing it to make money, she wants to make wine out of every medicinal herb in Korea and make an educational showcase about it.
It's a very impractical dream because there ain't room in that apartment for another 2,000 bottles of wine, and she's not from a rich family where she can easily spend the huge amounts of money her hobby requires. But her idea for a showcase isn't bad - if you went to the showcase and found out all this stuff about wine you'd applaud and be impressed by her efforts probably. Her family also don't seem to be opposed to her hobby - they help her out - just to the expense and how it's taken over the apartment.
I think she should rent storage space for the bottles and not keep them in the apartment. Also she can have a showcase now, with 3,000 bottles - she doesn't have to wait for all 5,000 to do it.
It's a crazy thing she's doing but a lot of art is people doing crazy things. I think Ryeowook should have stuck with his not a concern vote, she has a dream and this is a solveable problem.
actually that wine lady turned out to be a false case cause netizens (of course) dug up some old BROADCAST where she and her entire family came out and showed their house full of those bottles and they were certainly not against any of it, but were helping her sell in fact. so dumb she came out on another tv show and thought people wouldn't find it or remember or put the two together...? -_-
I was afraid to say anything because I feel like I'm starting to harp on it, but it's awkward and stupid that they have to be like "Super Junior -- and Henry!!!" when Ryeowook all but said they were together. It's embarassing to treat him that way.
Ryeowook is indeed Henry's #1 fanboy.
Ryeowook cussing must be like watching a leprechaun cuss. A Korean leprechaun. With pastel hair.
Hey, it's the episode where they had the Kenyan guy on! That was really well done, sometimes I have problems with Hello Counselor but this was a good episode :)
Ugh, Eunhyuk is painfully dumb sometimes. I get that he was trying to be positive, but Stanley's concern isn't simply a case of needing to ignore the assholes. Still, it's good that these kinds of issues are being talked about on TV. And it was cute how Stanley made everyone else feel short.
Idg why the wine lady can't just get some storage space? She probably wouldn't have to cut back too much on her wine production costs to afford it...
Henry, I'm not sure if church is really gonna help with anger management issues, lol.
I actually enjoyed this episode overall, thanks for the link. :)
I think the last guy bothered me most because he was like "But I'm Korean!!! despite my hair!" after we had that "look at these gentle black guys speaking Korean, why can't we all get along?" idk
Medicinal wine lady: Your hobby is turning the lives of your family upside down. At first I thought about telling you to quit, but I think you can have your hobby without ruining your family's lives. LOOK AT YOUR HOUSE FOR GOODNESS SAKE. Get yourself a storage facility or something. Please. Your family is ready to walk.
Stanley: Hang in there, man. It looks like you've got a lot of friends who deal with similar things, which is good to have. It's definitely not just you. Eunhyuk wants to lean on the better nature of people but he's clearly never been treated like someone with a disease. It makes me question how close he's been to the Chinese members of Suju. Nevermind him though.
Road rage guy: Seek help. The life you save may be your own. (My father's best friend once got into it on the highway with a guy who cut him off. Until he looked over and the other guy was pointing a gun at him. That likely won't happen in Korea, but the point is that there's always someone crazier, or bigger.) Holding that kind of violence in you, where you're ready to cause an accident and fight someone is utterly unhealthy. If I was the wife I'd be leery of bringing a child into the world with this guy. Either he's really going to hurt someone one of these days or his rage is going to spill out apart from the car.
Blonde dude: You're actually really attractive. This made me feel like Koreans are super cruel, even more than Stanley's case. I mean, you could dye it ostensibly, but you shouldn't have to. I think instead you should be an idol. :D Fighting!
As much as I like how Eunhyuk address the positive sides on the Stanley's concern, I do wish he could have said it's a concern. From what I gather from his thoughts on Sukira ages ago, he seemed like a very positive guy. But I never thought he is THIS positive that when he applied his thoughts to other people, he become....insensitive?
I get that maybe he's trying to make the guy feel better or not give up and support Stanley's dream or whatever, but this makes me think that he's too damn dense and I want to shake him to wake up or something :|
Stanley is adorable btw..I love his thoughts and attitude <3
Yeah. The boy is too positive almost to a fault. His reasoning did kind of seem insensitive, especially after everyone else thought the guy's situation was a concern.
I don't disagree with his reasoning but I wish it was his consolation after he admit that it is a concern. I like how he stayed positive after all he's been through but oh come on..he can't apply it to every other people and every problem.
And I remember a few days ago Ryeowook said on Sukira that Eunhyuk is rarely seemed concerned and he only gets upset like 1-2 times in a year. I mean, seriously? In all that SJ/himself fiasco he didn't feel THAT pressure?
Well...
