personally I think he struggled quite a bit and ended up stylizing the songs a bit too much.. making them sound very karaoke but I give him A for effort coz both aren't easy songs to sing.
Yeah, I don't know Eric Nam that well but I feel like these weren't good choices for his vocal style anyway. He just seems to have more of a dreamy voice so I feel like more mellow or jazzy songs would be better for him, like he should have chosen Norah Jones or Michael Buble or something.
My favorite idol covers are probably Taeyeon - O Holy Night, Led Apple's Talkin to the Moon (was so STUNNED they did this one, it was one of my low-key Bruno faves) Ailee's "One Night Only" and Hyorin's "Hurt".
He did a really lovely cover of Jason Mraz - I wont give up! His voice is so dreamy. <3 I'm pretty sure it's still on his youtube page. Check it out if you want.
Lulz at the MIDI backtracks. I think that's part of why I can't take it so seriously. I do really like Eric Nam's voice, though, and he's a qtpie.
Favorite English cover is Secret's Jieun's cover of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing." It showcased her vocal color and her talent, and this was right after Secret's debut. If only Secret's singles let her sing like this...
Or Younha singing "Dream On", which I got to experience live at All That Skate in Korea and was INCREDIBLE. This isn't the show I was at, but you get the idea:
