A short clip from the event showed Hyorin interacting with her fans with an expressionless face. After the clip was shared online, many netizens have been criticizing her for her rude conduct towards her fans who were waiting a long time for her at the signing.
As the controversy grew, Hyorin sincerely apologized for her conduct by tweeting, "Hello, this is Hyorin. I'm so sorry because I think I unintentionally disappointed you guys at the fan signing. The event where I was actually with the fans was a fun time for me. However, I think my candid actions with the fans was enough to cause a misunderstanding. From now on, I will not disappoint you guys. I'm sorry. I will be Hyorin who tries her best."
SISTAR's agency also commented, "The overall mood of the fan signing was good. We think there was a misunderstanding from the short clip. Hyorin normally greets her fans candidly. The fans weren't offended since it was a fan meeting situation. We hope there aren't any misunderstandings."

- Hyolyn apologized on twitter BEFORE articles were up in the search rankings. It wasn't until after her apology that more people began to slander her by searching her name on various Korean web portals
- Many Korean Star1s who attended the fansign are appalled that netizens are blowing this out of proportion. First hand accounts include the following comments:
1) "It saddens me that Hyorin felt the need to apologize for what supposedly happened. I was at the particular event in question and I honestly did not experience any of the 'disappointment' that has been mentioned. My heart hurt more knowing how exhausted that the girls are. Anyone who participates in the schedules the girls have will know how difficult the idol schedule is. It's exhausting and almost inhumane. Yet the members of Sistar always remain humble and smile for their fans. They are truly admirable."
2) "If one was thinking, they would not have posted such a video.. It was no big deal to us..ㅠㅠㅠ That is correct. Fans really didn't mind, but Hyolyn apologized. In the end, she apologized to the public who knew nothing about what happened."
3) "I can't believe how this Hyorin matter is being blown out of proportion. I witnessed it all in person and thought nothing negative!"
4) "Hyolyn is the one who spends the most time chatting with each of her fans. The line of people in front of her was super long because she spent so much time talking to each of her fans at the fansigning."
5) "Honestly... I thought that the comment about 'starting and getting things done quickly' was referring to the fact that the previous week's fansign was super rushed because of time constraints. It wasn't negative sounding at all."
- A fancam from SISTAR's ending speech was uploaded to YouTube for fans to watch. I have seen this video. When Hyolyn said the above comments to the fans, they continued to cheer, clap, agreed with her, and laughed along with her. Photos from the fansign show all of the members smiling and laughing
- People who were not at the fansign or are not SISTAR fans have no right to criticize them. You do not know if the members were upset because of family issues. You do not know if there was a rift between the agency and the members. You were not at that fansign to judge for yourself whether or not the atmosphere was 'uncomfortable.' You do not know any of the Korean Star1s that were there and thought Hyolyn's comments were fine. You cannot come to the conclusion that Hyolyn is rude and selfish when she has been praised by sunbaes in the industry for her work ethic and professionalism.
- Two days after the fansign, Dispatch released an article about SISTAR. They had nothing negative to say about them. They observed SISTAR's behavior around fans from afar and noted that their relationship with one another was like a family, not an idol-to-fan relationship.
- Over 425 comments were posted in that article. Only 2 or 3 mentioned anything about the fansign incident.
- If you are not a fan of SISTAR, you would not know that they have been overworked to the point where Hyolyn and Soyou almost fainted from exhaustion. You would not know that they sleep less than 2 hours a day, skip meals because they have no time to eat, and are shuttled around to at least 2 schedules a day (not including travel time, rehearsal time, recording time). The girls are tired and overworked--the people slandering them for "unprofessional behavior" know nothing about them or how kind and loving they are to their fans.
Those who take this as an opportunity to berate and vilify them are the reason why the quality of journalism continues to decline: nobody raises questions.
