After the murder: "I'm dried out of any emotions that can be felt by human beings. I didn't feel any guilt today at all, not even sadness or anger. Nothing but a short smile. Today, I'll fall asleep buried under the smell of blood."

3 minutes later: "I wanted to be a **** today. So I was a **** today."

"I didn't have any feelings of hate or positivity. Hate me. I want to go to hell. I have a person I want to bring to hell with me."

"I'd like to praise your bravery for staring into my eyes until your very last moment. Thank you for letting me know through your gaze that you weren't scared at all."

Later that afternoon, on the bus to meet a friend: "Cherry blossoms are a scent that you miss no matter how much you smell it. It smells nice from here on the bus. I feel at rest."

Four hours before he turned himself in (6:28): "My heart feels at rest today. I may get hate, people may be disappointed in me, but yeah, I'm a bad guy. Let's just take this easy."

He is no doubt has a mental problem. I wonder how is his relationship with his family or friends or people in general. Can't people around him detect that he has a psychopathic tendencies before this? :O

people generally don't notice those behaviours or if they do, they attempt to rationalize them. A lot of serial killers were respected community men, well known and liked etc. thats why after something liek this happens you see people saying "I can't believe he'd do it, he seemed like such a nice guy"

Someone in the NB comments posted a link to his facebook and it's just so creepy to think that someone you were friends with or vaguely knew on the internet could be such a cold hearted killer. I wonder what he was like to the people around him.

I don't think receiving mental help will improve his condition though, he's shown no remorse and seems proud of what he's done. He doesn't belong in society.

It still baffles me how a 19 year old boy can do this though. I mean anyone can be a murderer but what messed up shit could have happen to you in such a short lifespan that pushed you to do something this sadistic? Or did something happen that night in specific? Or does he have mental issues or was he just born a cold murderer? So many questions.. and in the pictures he seemed like such a normal teenager too which just makes it that much weirder and scary, because even the most normal person can turn out to be a sick fucker.

Korea needs to stop protecting perps of heinous crimes, the victim has their name and all the details of what happened to them blasted everywhere. The perp gets protected from step one. They need put that out there, shame your name, shame your family. Who the fuck spawned you!? So in less than 20 years he can have a clean slate. How does that make sense?!
A rapist and a murderer, I sure hope they find a way around their laws and let this one rot jail.

I am not defending at all what the guy did, but if someone's name is released, I much prefer the victim's name be the one that's known as opposed to the murderer.
America gives constant coverage of the names of the criminals (James Holmes, Adam Lanza, etc.) but almost no recognition to the deceased or those who suffered at their hands. The people who are likely to remember the names of the victims are often just the family, and that's almost worse, as they just become side notes in a case about a famous psychopath.
It also brings into play the whole notoriety thing, and the "If I do this, then I'll be famous and everyone will know me" mentality, family members that more likely than not had little to nothing to do with how this person turned out, and I know a lot of people will cast the anger they have at this criminal onto the family members. Probably not best to shame the family.

I don't know what to think. He seems to know he's an evil person, or to know that other people will perceive him as an evil person. (No duh!) Those texts are like he's trying to play the role of the movie villain. Well, I guess if the point was to feel something - anything - and maybe to be famous, acting like the villain in a movie is a good way to make sure your story gets spread around. Whatever's driving this guy, I'm glad he turned himself in. I do feel sorry for the other prisoners in his prison, though.

I'm really on the fence about this dude, because I dont know if he has some type of mental disorder (like psychopathy) or there was another reason for acting the way he did (rape culture, wanting to get people's attention, etc). I guess we'll know more during the trial.

I somehow feel for psychopaths because even though what they might do is horrible, they are also born with a mental disorder that cant be fixed. Of course if that's the case, he deserves the maximum punishment for acting on it, but at the same time I hope he gets some type of treatment.

This is just so messed up. To think that they're are people like this just walking about the earth, doing crazy things like this makes me never want to leave my house. But going through some of the comments, most people say death penalty, which I would have to agree with. But if that's not possible, is a life sentence out of question?

He doesn't need jail he needs to be committed for life. He has serious issues and should never be allowed out into the general public again. The sad thing is this probably could've been prevented if he had proper care.

I hope they never let him out. He deserves to be monitored for life. Maybe a place that is a little more open but never ever should he be left to his own devices again.

I'm debating into whether call him a cold blood murderer or psychopath, he didn't premeditate her killing, he did that after she fought back so in this case it was the situation that let him to kill her.The fact that he cut her and stuff, seems like he was trying to hide it at first rather than personal pleasure,and he could've just post those comments in an attempt to pretend he has psychological problems, tho idk if he is that smart... it'll be really awful if he plays that card in his defense when the reality is another.

obviously we don't know his problems and mental situation, I think is a matter on studying his behavior, seeing how he dropped out of school and stuff, it is hard to say.

Okay, I've had enough with all the horrible murders that have been happening these past weeks and with what I have read.
Just today, as well, I've heard of a CEO of some company killing a 15 year old boy in a hit and run accident. He was dead drunk. He left him, after being arrested he showed no remorse, he denied that he committed the crime. After 3 months of trial, he's sentenced to 18 FUCKING MONTHS. 18. I'm so pissed. And what's worse, it seems that the boy's father will probably (try to) kill him himself, and be the one to rot in jail instead.

I still believe that he should be admitted to a mental hospital for testing and possibly rehabilitation. From what he says here, he sounds depressed. He may have hit such a low in his life that there was just no hope at all and no other alternatives that could be positive. Testing and therapy could find out whether or not that's the case, and he could even be used as study material for whatever condition/s he may or may not have.

If he is a psychopath, he could give great insight into the workings of his mind. I doubt he'll be put to death for his crime, so his life could be put to use. I don't know how the justice system works in South Korea, though.

He needs to be locked up, preferably not in a jail. This guy isn't safe whatsoever, and he could even hurt other inmates in jail.
