I had the amazing opportunity to attend K-Dream Live Vol.1 while I was in Japan. It was a multi-group concert, of which MYNAME was one of the groups performing. With their recent comeback and mini-album release, I thought fans would like to read a live concert review from someone who was there.
MYNAME came out on stage in pure white outfits which should have looked ridiculous, but they made it look good. They performed Message for their first song. It wasn't my favourite song when I first heard it, but it earwormed it's way into my heart. They were energetic and the dance was fun, if not particularly intricate.

I was lucky enough to be on the floor close to the runway stage. I could see everyone's faces without the jumbotron screens.

MYNAME's popularity with Japanese fans was surprising. From the number of MYNAME glowsticks and signs being waved around, I thought they must have been promoting heavily in Japan. Turns out, they had only released a few songs. Maybe I ended up sitting in the fanclub section? They had just finished up a country wide tour, though, so they must have a pretty big fanbase.
Sitting next to people who were so into the performance made the experience that much better. The people around me were yelling out the fanchats, and though they weren't as loud as Korean fans are during weekly Gayo shows, it was still a super-heightened fangirl atmosphere. I'd heard a couple of their songs, but I wasn't a fan, so it was great being surrounded by all that positive energy.
The middle of the set consisted of Hello & Goodbye, I Want To and Everlasting Love. I enjoyed each of these performances, but the absolute best part was when they busted out Summer Party.
I don't care what anyone says, Summer Party is one of the best K-pop songs of all time. It's nothing too epic or complicated, just plain cute and fun. There's a call-and-repeat part with audience participation. Love it. Too bad it's a Japanese-only release.
They really piled on the fan service - blowing kisses, making hearts with their hands, pointing out a member of the audience and waving, that sort of thing. I swear one of them pointed me out and blew me a kiss! I was probably way too far away, though.

I was impressed with their Japanese skills - they spoke to the audience, introduced themselves and talked a bit about living and touring in Japan, all in Japanese. It was great being able to understand what they said - being new to the language themselves, they didn't use any words or grammar I was unfamiliar with. Reason #78 why I love K-pop idols who tour in Japan - I can understand them when they talk to the audience. (Let's just say my Korean skills are... close to non-existent.)
I remember them talking about their favourite foods. The go-to topic for all intermediate language learners.
Unfortunately, I don't know their names, so I can't recall anything particularly awesome or unique about each member. I do know that the long haired one was super cute. I think he looks a bit awkward in photos and MVs, but he's really good looking in person. Maybe it's because his ears don't look so big when he's in motion. Ha. He's also got a great live voice, so he's not just a pretty face.
One interesting side note - the fans were super polite. There were almost no cameras, phones or iPads held aloft throughout the concert. All the fans were fully present in the moment, enjoying the performance as it was meant to be enjoyed. It was a refreshing change. Don't you wish all concerts were like that? On the downside, you don't take away any personal mementos of the experience, which is something I regret myself. At least I have my memories!
All in all, it was a great live from a not-so-popular group that turned me into a bit of a fan. I can't wait to see what they do with the mini-album.

I also saw Nu'est and Infinite. Aron spoke ( to me!) in English. I'll review those concerts once I get off my lazy butt. It's a long shot, but if you were at K-Dream Live Vol. 1, I'd love to hear from you and squee about the amazing experience!
I was also so supremely traumatized by the Baby I'm Sorry MV, I couldn't even string the words together to write a proper review. The most I could muster was a live-tweet style recap as I went through a series of emotions: :D O_o :/ ಠ_ಠ ;__; Click here if you want to enjoy my pain.

Date: 2013-07-07 04:51 am (UTC)Glad you had fun, hope I get to experience a K-pop concert soon. =]
And I'm happy MYNAME has done so well in Japan. I thought they were doing okay, but they've gained quite a following and their Japanese fans even flew to Seoul for their first Korean concert too.

Date: 2013-07-07 05:37 am (UTC)Based on videos/tv shows I've seen, Japanese fans seem way more subdued and respectful of the artists and other fans. Their airports look way less chaotic as well when idols arrive! Fan culture here on the other hand is terrible.
