Male Rights Group 'Man of Korea' files an injunction to ban Dal Shabet's "Be Ambitious"

Male rights group 'Man of Korea' (MOK) has filed an injunction against Dal Shabet's "Be Ambitious".

MOK said, "The lyrics and music video of 'Be Ambitious' depreciate both women and men, and it's harmful to the youth". They requested that the song be banned from further distribution.

They reasoned, "Female dance group Dal Shabet's new song 'Be Ambitious' was released on June 20, 2013. The lyrics are about a woman who's thirsty for sex. She's very sexual in revealing that she can't take it anymore (without sex) and is annoyed at her boyfriend who 'wastes' time by talking all night instead of having sex. The lyrics talk about seducing a man to have sex with her by wearing short skirts."

They explained, "The lyrics make it sound like women can't go on without sex. Also, it can induce sexual assault from the youth by planting the wrong influence about women and sex. The laws on youth limit the distribution of harmful material to the youth. We filed an injunction so the youth can mature in a healthy manner."

'Man of Korea' also pointed out that the MV to the song was problematic as well, saying, "The MV to 'Be Ambitious' contains scenes that also depreciate the 600,000 soldiers that are working hard in their enlistment. In the beginning of the MV, young women are sitting in a cool theater and they point and laugh at soldiers who are getting training. Their laughing at the men receiving training to protect the country depreciates the image of the soldiers."

The filing of the injunction took place not through an official court proceeding, but was filed only through documents. If the case is not complicated, the filing can be finished within a month.

Happy Face Entertainment said, "You can view the MV in many different ways. We had none of the intention that 'Man of Korea' has claimed. We're disappointed that it was interpreted in such a manner."

well yes and no i think the mens rights group is making it out to be the womens fault for wanting sex but rape is actually more present in relationships or beginnings of relationships the stranger rape is. Well I can't say I'm totally comfortable with everything the lyrics are portraying. Not because they are being sexual females but because they seem to be propagating the view that the women has to the coy, virginal one just sitting on her hands and waiting for a man to come and take her.

at some point the lyrics basically say that if a woman wears a short skirt, it's ALWAYS because she wants a man to have sex with her. I'm shocked that the people commenting in this post don't see why this is incredibly, horrifyingly problematic.

I think some people are so desperate to be the opposite of slut-shamers that they basically take any case of a woman being sexual in music videos/media to be GIRL POWER without actually using their brains and thinking beneath the surface.

These girls aren't even in control of their own image. Old, disgusting middle aged men tell them to wear literally nothing and sing lyrics begging men to rape them. These same men take their female trainees and pass them around to other middle aged men for sex. These girls have NO power and yet the privileged little kpop fans that frequent these posts try to feel good about themselves by claiming so long as a woman is being sexual it's all just empowerment, details and context be damned. I bet most people didn't even bother to read the translation of the lyrics in the first place.

a good song about female empowerment (I think anyway) is Miss A's Good Girl Bad Girl. The lyrics are great and (shock) not problematic. Women calling men out on their hypocrisy and being proud of their bodies (though there's still that icky issue of most girl group CEOs being men)
