EXO’s First Official Album Tops iTunes Charts Internationally

SM‘s newest idol group EXO have secured the #1 spot on the iTunes charts for multiple countries in just six hours after their first official album was released!

As of 6:30 (KST) on June 3, EXO’s first full-length album “XOXO (Kiss & Hug)” has ranked #1 on the iTunes Album Chart in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. The album is ranked at #2 in Hong Kong and the Philippines while it ranks #4 in Malaysia, #5 in Japan and #11 in Taiwan.

In the US, EXO’s album ranks #70 while it ranks #48 in Canada and #69 in Australia.

“XOXO (Kiss & Hug)” contains the title track “Wolf” as well as “Don’t Go,” “3.6.5,” “Heart Attack,” “Peter Pan,” “Baby,” and others, for a total of 12 tracks. The album contains a diverse tracklist, ranging from a young love song like “Don’t Go,” a bright and energetic melody in “3.6.5,” a mysterious and groovy club track like “Heart Attack,” a nostalgic and innocent love song like “Peter Pan,” and many more.

Kris and Yixing are so genuine. Somehow, I feel like Luhan is kinda lonely, and Kyungsoo is not "cute" as he appears to be (not in a bad way. He sounds like he does not express love that often).

I respect how hard it must be to translate all of these, but some of these translations are a little hilarious (I don't mean in a mean way, I mean genuinely the sentences are hilarious because of what they suggest):

"And to my mom and dad who gave birth to me prettily" As in...pretty...birth.

"To my mom, dad, and sister who gave birth to me" Go Noona!

Also if "Please let me be able to control time on Earth too" isn't Tao (and my Tao-stan friend thinks it is, she says his Hangul is super messy--like a child's, usually--but she's pretty sure it is him and she's proud of him for writing in Korean) then there's iffy translating going on there, too, because it suggests whoever the speaker is has the power to stop time elsewhere ("too") which is why many people are leaping to the conclusion of Tao writing in Korean. Except there is also a "do" in the Korean, suggesting "too" is in the actual piece. Unless the speaker-who-isn't-Tao means "in addition to [insert power I already have here], I would like to also gain Tao's time control" it kind of has to be him? Plus none of the other members get quite so excited about their -super power- as Tao does.

In other news, Kai is a massive softie, Sehun is a self-centred softie, Suho's full translation is adorable (Kyuhyunie-hyung and "to Jungah who I love the most", though it's sad he thanked all of SHINee individually--best friend Jonghyun!--except Jinki), Chen thanking Ryeowook and all of his members especially "cute leader Suho hyung" is precious, Kai and Suho thanking Moonkyu is lovely, and Lay's and Kris's are sweet. I also like how Lu Han thanked Henry (not ge; they're the same age), Zhou Mi-ge and Liyin-jie, and Chanyeol thanked the Cheonsangjihee unnies. <3
