Ailee blew away everyone, including legendary ballad singer Lee Seung Chul, with her cover of "Heeya" on 'Immortal Song 2'.

Her charismatic rendition of the well-known song definitely impressed the crowd, and Lee Seung Chul praised her performance by saying, "My mind is blown... I feel like my territory has been invaded. There would always be an awkwardness when another singer besides me sang this song, but I got the same feeling from Ailee's singing as I do with mine."

Ailee did manage to beat Huh Gak that round, but Ulala Session took the final win this episode.

haha is it true that ppl dont like his live performances? I for one, enjoy it very much -- he puts so much emotions in his singing that you could feel the sadness of the lyrics even more. I felt like when he sings, he brings so much emotions that you could feel his pain too. I maybe exaggerate but he's like the Luther Vandross of Korea (at least for me). Like for this live for an example:



The 'saved Korean music' sentence makes me lol. I guess being a legend did makes him lose his ground and become more arrogant. :(

A part of me wish Lee Seung Chul is one of the judge during this performance -- I would love to hear his opinion on the arrangement she choose to sing for this song.

I'm a super huge fan of this song although I reckon that her performance here is very good, it's not as emotional as the original version due to the arrangement.

Hyorin and Ailee are so hit or miss for me, especially on Immortal Song 2.
I feel like they do the whole screaming/holding long notes thing way too often, but so do a lot of artists on that show.
For them though, Idk, it just doesn't do anything for me.
But this performance was great, I felt like she didn't over do it like she usually does.

Side note: Was the blonde-ish guy they showed in the waiting room FTI's Hongki?
He's looking a bit tore up.

Also side note: I am dreading/looking forward to this episode of IS2 because of Ulala's return.
I think seeing them perform without Yuntek is gonna take me awhile to get used to.

Honestly, their performance was spectacular. They paid homage to him with that performance and it was glorious because he was in their minds. They even introduced themselves as 5 even though he wasn't there, and said they would always be 5. I was sobbing tbh.

+1. I thought I was gonna bawl like a baby but the fact that they chose to face the audience in high spirits with an upbeat song was amazing. It will obviously take a while to get used to, but it wasn't as bad as I expected.

Also, could you give me examples in IS2 in which you think Ailee overdoes the long notes? Because I feel that way about Hyorin often (they always seem out of place) but I've always thought Ailee managed to balance everything perfectly, and executed them incredibly. Plus, long/high notes tend to impress the crowd, which tend to bring in more votes lol.
