LUNAFLY met with press in Singapore and talks about music, girl groups and family.
On 10th May, taking place at take Restaurant in Studio M Hotel, LUNAFLY members, Sam, Teo and Yun greeted the Singaporean media for their first ever visit to the sunny island. Sam said, "We were surprised to see that many fans came to the airport to see us" and thanked the fans for a very warm welcome. They then proceeded to talk about their first full album, Fly to Love, which was released in early April. Yun said, "Since our first two single albums used more acoustics sounds, we wanted to change it up by experimenting and we wanted to go for more upbeat sounds for this album." Sam also added, "We always make sure that we do two versions of every songs that we wrote," as he felt that it is very important to do that to be internationally recognized. He also mentioned that they always wrote the English version of the songs first before the Korean version.
Asked about whether they would focus on other things beside music, Teo said, "Right now, music is our focus but we also enjoy showing different sides of us to our fans, so fans can definitely expect different types of activities from LUNAFLY", adding that they have no idea yet on what they want to do. Sam, who is currently a DJ on an Arirang radio show said that he's enjoying his stint as a radio DJ as he gets to introduce a variety of genres of k-pop in his show.
LUNAFLY is well-known for their cover songs, having covered various songs before such as Train's "50 Ways to Say Goodbye", Justin Bieber's "As Long As You Love Me", and Olly Murs' "Troublemaker", just to name a few. Other than that, they also recently released solo cover songs. When asked whether is there any plan to release solo original songs, Yun said "When we decided to do the solo covers, it was more of an opportunity for us to sing songs that suits our own voices. However, it's still early to be talking about solo songs as we see ourselves as a team."
Teo, the middle child of the group, visibly cheered up when talking about girl groups. Sam mentioned about meeting Hello Venus on a music show and said, "we didn't realize that they would know us because we were just starting out, but few of the members said that they are big fans and they liked our music." Teo also added that they would like to collaborate with 2NE1 as they are very talented.
In 5 years time, Teo hopes that "LUNAFLY will still be very busy and receiving lots of love from around the world" Yun, the maknae playfully added that he wanted Sam to be a DJ forever. He also said that he hopes "LUNAFLY will become a band which is known around the world." Sam also mentioned that they had spoken about their dreams of going on a world tour, stating "It's going to be tough for groups to go for that long but hopefully as long as we keep on writing good songs and good shows, hopefully we can keep on doing that."
In conjunction of Mother's Day that weekend, the members also talked about how they showed their love to their mum. All three of them said that it was tough to meet their parents right now but they always tried to keep in touch over the phone. The youngest, Yun said he talked to his mom everyday and said that "my mum is proud of me because at such a young age, I already have a full time job as a singer" Sam, who haven't met his parents since he came to Korea 1 and a half years ago said that when he was still in England, he always buy flowers for his mother on Mother's Day.
Sam also said that the music industry is a lot tougher than he thought it would be. "There are times when you can't eat or sleep properly and there are times when you work so hard to the point of exhaustion, so that is something I never told my parents. But when they see my photos, they would ask, why have I lost so much weight so I always pretend that everything is alright and never told them the tough side of the music industry" Different from Sam, Yun said "When I don't tell my mum anything, my mum would be worried even more so I always tell my mum everything."
Talking about the showcase that is scheduled to held on 12th May In Hard Rock Cafe, Sam said that fans should look forward to a special gift that they had prepared specifically for Singapore fans.

Anyway, I saw some footage of their Indonesia showcase and they sang an Indonesian song. It was sweet of them. <3

They do so many things for the fans. Sam asks for things about where fans are from all the time on his Arirang radio show Super Kpop all the time. so he can do them at performances. Oh bless his heart. He tries so hard at for languages even though I think he most likely fails quite often.

The fansign went by really fast but lol @ me being a failure and not being able to say anything. Sam was really friendly though, and initiated all the handshakes. So was Teo, but Yun's painfully shy and we kind of grabbed each other's hands awkwardly lmao. And someone got a photo with 1/4 of me in it :D
The showcase could have been better (it was mostly a logistics fault) but it ran for over 2 hours so that was a plus point (except not really, I was craning my neck and tiptoeing since I'm short and was near the back and the stage was really low ◕︵◕). The biggest disappointment was that they didn't perform their solos. This was one of my favourite parts of the event though, Teo's ridiculous lol

I think the article gave a pretty good reason why they probably didn't perform solos at the showcase. That was a great fancam! I couldn't understand all of what Teo was saying. Something about giraffe Pokemon and parties? Do you remember what was said. Also, I love Teo's English, and find it so cute. One reason why I love listening to the Lunafly shoot corner's on Sam's radio show so much.
