‘School 2013′ gains praise for its realistic portrayal of school problems

‘School 2013‘ is gaining high praises and interest from viewers for its realistic portrayal of school problems.

Starting from its beginning episode, the drama tackled school violence, bullying of both students and teachers and alike, and corrupt teachers. Many praised the drama’s realistic handling of the various problems in school, including the decreasing authority of teachers, a dreamless class, and rebellious teens

Lines such as a student telling a short-term teacher, “You’re being too nosy even though you’re not even a real teacher“, the female teacher begging, “Someone please stop him” as her arm is grabbed by a problematic student, or a teacher being told, “Didn’t that video of you slapping the student get recorded?“, got right down to pointing out some of the issues making the news.

The tagline for the drama itself is “It was hidden by students and unknown by the adults‘, expressing the drama’s goal to reveal some of the issues and problems that have been going by unnoticed by the public. The drama was made even more realistic as it is said to be based on stories collected from real students.

Many viewers who watched the drama commented, “This may seem like a drama, but this actually happens“, and “It made me uncomfortable watching… does this actually happen in school?“

The director of the drama, PD Lee Min Hong, commented, “We are going to handle ‘School 2013′ from many point of views such as those of students, teachers, the school in general, and the parents. We are going to make a brave drama that will leave a message for society.“

‘School 2013′s Daniel Choi and Lee Jong Suk’s small age gap draws attention

Daniel Choi and Lee Jong Suk‘s age have become an amusing topic of discussion.

Daniel Choi was born in 1986, and Lee Jong Suk was born in 1989, making them only 3 years apart, but in ‘School 2013‘, Daniel Choi plays the teacher while Lee Jong Suk plays the student. Lee Jong Suk revealed through a press conference, “The ages of actors that play the students range from 14 to 27. One of the students is the same age as Daniel Choi hyung.”

Daniel Choi smiled sheepishly and said, “We’re around the same age, but he’s a student and I’m a teacher. It may be the difference in the things we eat, or maybe it’s because of bias. Even in the sitcom ‘High Kick‘, someone who was my age played my nephew. The reason why I keep playing the teacher and the uncle is because of environmental reasons“, causing everyone to laugh as he tried to provide a reason as to why he is always cast to portray the older character.

kim woo bin is pretty much the only reason why i want to check out this drama. He was perfect in White Christmas. Actually... whole cast was perfect.

lol this is me. i pretty much hated NG after watching first episode. everyone was awful and there was nothing to keep me truly interested. It's not as good as many people say but I can't say that I wasted my time on it. Moon Chae Won and Song Joong Ki were so great together that it worth to watch.

Tonally, it surprised me because it's quite dark. It took me a while to ease in (partially due to the freakishly small head of Jang Nara who I had not been exposed to before, she does not look a day past 15 imo) but ugh, I continued watching and such good angst. I'm really invested in the characters (well okay maybe 4/7 atm) and its only 4 eps in and gdi ep 4 is /so good/

Well directed, pretty impressed with the writing and good acting so far and I'm so curious for the back stories!

AND OMG THE GUY WHO PLAYED ROBOT MARU FROM SHUT UP! FLOWER BOY BAND IS THE BULLY WHOSE NAME I HAVE FORGOTTEN JUNGHO?? (sorry misfit, I have seriously blanked I hope its right lol)



Side note: I really like the class clown kid in the glasses, he cracks me up!

I'm currently watching three M/T dramas: Can We Get Married?, King of Dramas, and School 2013. I love them all for different reasons,

*Warning: possible spoilers*

I fell for School so fast, you have no idea. This probably due to Go Nam-soon, he just gives me so much hope. My heart seriously bleeds for this kid. I know some people found the first two episodes rather dull but they were important for character development purposes. That look of fear on Nam-soon's face after almost thought chair was so telling. It totally makes sense after watching episode 4. And now that we know his past, I'm really curious to see how this unfolds.

Omg I also just love his relationship with the class dork and the class VP. Go Nam-soon is such a good guy, I'm rooting for him all the way.

Those boys in White Christmas are everywhere ^^ I haven't watched WC yet but I'm already familiar with most of them from main casts of dramas this year alone.(Baek Seung Hyun, Sung Joon, Kim Woo Bin, Kim Young Kwang, Lee Soo Hyuk, this guy, the one from Rooftop Prince...)

This drama is good, I like the issues they bring up and how the characters challenge each other, to explore some of the grey areas.

Can't wait for more development between Kim Woo Bin - Lee Jong Suk, and Daniel Choi - Jang Nara.

Omg now that you point it out, Sung Joon and Kim Young Kwang are both in Can We Get Married?, Kim Won Bin and this guy are in School and then Baek Seung-hyun just scored a role in Iris. And then I'm sure Lee Soo Hyuk will get a new role any day now. They really are EVERYWHERE.

I've had White Christmas sitting in my external hardrive for over 6 months, I'm going to try and watch it during break^^

I have high expectation to this drama too since Joongki & Chae Woon is in it plus the writer is one of my faves but I actually stopped at the middle of it. I felt that the script & plot were lacking and I didn't enjoy the bitch attitude of both of the female leads.

I felt so frustrated when he ditch his doctor career for the girl. THERE'S NO WAY IN THE WORLD THAT THING COULD HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE. The way they treat the profession is like anyone could enter the it -- like entering the program is like a piece of cake where anyone could do it. >.>
