Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to the 4th week of December, 2016. Most of the songs were posted before, so this week we will see some live stages. OP doesn’t remember much from this week, maybe you remember more. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!

#3 Sechs Kies “Couple”
Earlier this year, the group (minus Ko Jiyong) reunited for a few episodes of Infinite Challenge. Following the success of their appearance, they signed with YG Entertainment. Sold out concerts followed a few months after that, along with new music. The group released an album filled with new arrangements of their old songs. “Couple” was chosen as lead single, and would peak at #2 on the charts. It was originally released as a part of their 3rd album, “Street Fighter”, in 1998. Let’s check out their comeback at Inkigayo. I love their lightsticks so much. It reminds me of pre-2008 when fan groups all had balloons.

#2 Heize “Star”
This digital single was her last release for the year. She would finish up the year strong, the song would get an all-kill. It would be her first #1 on the charts, and also give her her first music show win. She didn’t promote on the music shows though, but here’s a live performance she did for Mnet.

#1 Seventeen “Boom Boom”

This was the lead single from the group’s third EP “Going Seventeen”. I only remember one thing about this song, the opening part of the choreo where they open their jackets. I remember nothing else about this era lol. Here’s their comeback stage at Music Core.

Honorable Mentions

#7 Mamamoo “Decalcomanie”

This was the title track from the group’s fourth EP, “Memory”. It was a successful release, it would peak at #2 and is still one of their biggest selling songs. I can never remember this song by name. And only when I hear it is it only kind of familiar to me. Here’s their comeback stage at M Countdown.

#9 Zico featuring Crush & Dean “Bermuda Triangle”
Zico was busy with Block B activities this year, but was able to release two solo singles. For this one, he teamed up with Crush and Dean. Where’s Dean been? I feel like I haven’t heard that name in a while. Anyways, the song would debut at the top spot. I remember this happening, but I don’t remember anything more.
