TvN's new drama "Vincenzo," starring actor Song Joong-ki, got off to a smooth start Friday.

According to Nielsen Korea, the crime rom-com's first episode garnered 8.7 percent of viewership in the Seoul metropolitan area, becoming the most-watched program in the prime 9 p.m.-10 p.m. timeslot.

In the series, Song plays Vincenzo Cassano (Park Joo-hyung), a Korean-born lawyer and Italian mafia consigliere who heads for Korea after being betrayed by his gang in Italy. In Korea, he joins hands with another lawyer named Hong Cha-young ― played by Jeon Yeo-been ― to defeat villains in "villainous ways."

"The protagonist of the drama is not wholly driven by good will ― sometimes, he is more evil than the villains," director Kim Hee-won said during an online press conference, Feb. 15. "We tried to add more variety to the existing hero series."

Song said: "Through the synopsis, I could feel that writer Park Jae-bum was very enthusiastic about including content that's critical of society. But he recounts the story in a humorous way ― I thought this was fresh.

"Our series has so many episodes that I can stay up all night to talk about them. Please also look forward to the performances of different actors."

"Vincenzo" airs every Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m. (KST). It is also available on Netflix.

i'm in the middle of episode 1. i like it so far and it's been a hot minute since i've seen song joong ki's fave. netflix keeps being a pain for me on my laptop, can't wait to get my new laptop (it's on order).

I know you didn't ask me but World of the Married was a recent messy kdrama that I loved lol I wish it had been on netflix, it deserved more hype outside of korea! Kim Hee Ae is gorgeouss, the chemistry between the leads is soo good.

i am currently watching river where the moon rises (2 episodes out, but very good already!), she would never know (which is getting better now we're in the second half, office drama/melo/slice of life/good looking male lead), 18 again (this drama finished last year i think but i really enjoy it! good slice of life) and dr romantic (medical drama)

i started watching kdramas again since the pandemic hit so i've been catching up on older and newer dramas too! what kind of dramas do you usually enjoy?
some newer (i think) dramas that i really enjoyed were sky castle (rich families and critique on korean education system), extraordinary you (i am a extraordinary you evangelist lol such a good romcom, plays with romance tropes sooooo well) and hospital playlist (slice of life medical drama?). mystic pop-up bar is fun too, 12 episodes so a little bit shorter, fantasy comedy. and when the camelia blooms!
i've heard good things too about world of the married as the user above mentioned!

do you usually like sageuks? i never really try them out because when i have, i can never get into them. (sorry to my country, i still think the leads are hot!) and i was thinking of trying out she would never know, if only so i can stare at rowoon tbh! and dr romantic doesn't really sound like my taste but i love ahn hyoseop, so now i'm thinking about it lol

i'll generally watch anything as long as i like the actors or if they have my kdrama mom (kim sunyoung). but some faves of mine are shopping king louis, save me, shut up flower boy band will occasionally get a rewatch out of me—my first ever kdrama—and age of youth (i didn't finish the 2nd season but still counts). i honestly atm i can't think of any others rn, tho! i liked the newest (?) nam joo hyuk one too, the school nurse files! slice of life gets me but i generally don't like the main couples so i drop a lot of them. i've been wanting to get into more of the genre ones bcus netflix has a lot rn but i don't know where to start

sorry for the late reply on this, tho! my list just keeps growing, thank u for all the recs ♡

listennnnnnnnnn if you want to watch hot rowoon PLEASE watch extraordinary you because it is sooooo much better than she would never know (i really have some problems with the latest episode — rowoon and won jinah are a great couple, but i do not agree with some of the side plots developing now so i might retract my recommendation). rowoon looks amazing but the storyline is great too! great female main character, respectful and supportive male lead, great subversion of romance tropes everything! told you i was an extraordinary you evangelist ;)

i do like sageuks but it really depends on the story line (aka if i think it has the potential for interesting female characters. sageuks that are light and i enjoyed were the tale of nokdu and rookie historian goo haeryeong.

i haven't gotten to the season with ahn hyoseop yet but i am fairly enjoying the first season, but tbh i prefer hospital playlist as a medical drama now.

i have never watched shut up flower boyband! it's supposedly a classic! age of youth is one of my faves! think we might have similar tastes because the ones you name that i haven't watched are on my list to watch

18 again is great slice of life to start i'd say! there's a lot of non-romance stuff going on as well. i also heard good things about i go to you when the weather is nice.

some other recs apart from the list i already gave you:
- my id is gangnam beauty (tackles korean beauty standards very well, college slice of life, cha eunwoo is not great but nice to look at)
- angry mom (deals with high school bullies but at the same time very funny, one of jisoo's earlier roles i believe)
- because this is my first life (great slice of life with lee minki! one of my faves!! got me into kdramas again when the pandemic started)
- coffee prince (another classic!)
- fight my way (another great slice of life best friends to lovers with park seojoon)
- misaeng (office drama, no romance, amazing critique on korean work culture)
- oh my ghostess (fun workplace romance drama! the premise can sound meh to some but is fun)

ok sorry for overdoing it! for some reason i can get really passionate about this. most of these might be on netflix, they are in my country at least.

Ooohhh sorry randomly reading and commenting. I love love shut up flower boy band. I did enjoy the flower series but flower boy band is my fave (flower boy ramyun shop, flower boy bext door are also ok). Lots of really nice coming of age series from TVN (Reply 1997 will forever be one of the best) and if you have more time to watch and if you haven't seen it...look up Monstar.

I love hospital playlist its really really good and I highly recommend to most my friends but dr.romantic is also a gem for me. I like season 1 more but season 2 is also good.

Sageuks...I love them specially if we have a good story. My Country has become my top most recommended and close second is Moon Embracing the Sun. Goodness that drama made me cry!!! The young versions of the leads (Kim Sohyun, Kim Yoojung, Yeo Jingoo --- how can you go wrong with them???) are so good it made the flashback scenes really worth watching.
