Block B's Park Kyung admits to school bullying rumours, states he thought "being an iljin was cool"

Block B's Park Kyung has admitted to rumors that bullied his classmates in middle school.

Earlier on the 28th, A who attended the same middle school as Park Kyung posted a lengthy post on his SNS and stated, "I was a victim of Park Kyung's assaults. Park used to steal my money and belongings and bully me and my friends at the back gate in school. He's someone that lived under the influence of greed. Drinking and smoking was nothing to him. As someone that knew Park Kyung from then, it's so ridiculous to see him cleaning up his image acting like some type of gentleman on TV. I don't know how I lived through what he did to me in the past but he's that much of a hypocrite to act like this now."

Park Kyung posted an apology on his Twitter on the 29th and stated, "I hated the image of a model student and liked to be noticed and thought my iljin friends looked cool. I wanted to hang out with them and did some shameful things. I thought that no one would treat me that way if I was with them. I regret my immature actions. I know that those who have been hurt by me will never be able to erase those memories and those wounds will never be justified."

He added, "If you were injured by me, please contact me directly or through the company. I would like to apologize in person and ask for forgiveness. I was afraid you might think I was a two-faced person but I'm writing this myself because I feel too ashamed to express my position through the company."

1. [+5,401, -68] What kind of lame excuse is that ㅋㅋ

2. [+3,462, -22] So he was a perpetrator of school violence and worked as a PR ambassador to prevent school violence ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ. I'm laughing at the hypocrisyㅋ

3. [+1,874, -41] I saw on the victim's Instagram that he was planning of exposing more if Park Kyung didn't admit to it ㅋㅋㅋ. He must be cursing out the victim on the inside.

4. [+1,932, -141] And he had the audacity to say anything about sajaegi ㅋㅋㅋㅋ.

5. [+1,518, -17] I mean, its looking like there are more than one or two victims because he doesn't seem to remember who the victim is? Imagine how enraged they must be seeing him on air. If he's being sincere about reflecting, he needs to retire from the entertainment industry. If your past is dirty don't even think of becoming an entertainer.

6. [+1,057 -2] Only a trash ba$tard would bully the weak and disabled.

7. [+732, -9] As a mother, I wish celebrity school bullies would just get kicked out of the industry. They probably thought it makes them look strong and don't think much of it but it's heartbreaking for the victims and their families.

8. [+644, -2] This is the first time I've heard of a school bully that beats up girls and disabled kids...

9. [+219, -6] From Zico to Gaeko, I hope all those trash ba$tard friends of Jung Joon Young get banned from coming on TV too.

10. [+96, -1] Wow~ this 양아치 [thug] did a good job of cleaning up his image

11. [+84, -1] As someone that has faithfully followed Block B for 7 years, there has honestly been a lot of things but I endured through it. But for one of the popular BB members to do this..hul I'm so disappointed of Park Kyung. I used to cheer for him a lot but this is unforgivable. Goodbye Park Kyung-ssi. Don't ever step into the entertainment industry ever again!

12. [+71, -0] I saw a lot of comments on Twitter saying "find strength oppa..." Why the heck are you cheering him on for? He's a ba$tard that bullied disabled kids...this isn't even his first offense.

bullying seems to be a big problem in korea. it's like every other week there's a celebrity accused of bullying. they really need some reforms in schools like counseling or something.

but also maybe because k-pop is a cut-throat industry it's just an industry full of bullies that had to step on others to get to the top. yikes :/ i don't want to think about that...

This is something I think about a lot. Bullying is so common that so many celebs have been accused of being bullies, whether back in their school days or to their members. On top of that, you see imagery of bullying in media like in kdramas and so on.

With how cut-throat kpop is, I wouldn't be surprised at how horrible it is behind the scenes.

The sad thing is he’s handling this better than Hyolyn did and other female idols that were bullies and got caught, where instead they got super defensive.

Before I got into the post I was hoping he brought it up himself (not good for his career but would show he has remorse) but should’ve known it was because a former classmate called him out. Otherwise these artists hope it’s never brought up again lbr. I’ll be genuinely surprised if the day comes that an idol addresses their past as they actually want to come to terms with what they’ve did and not because they were confronted.

I didn’t know till reading the netizen comments he bullied women and the disabled? If that’s true that’s super concerning.

This was my first thought too, and it’s soooo sad that even this trash is handling it better than Hyolyn. I wanted so badly for her to at the very least take some responsibility but instead I got nothing but damning evidence and defensive disgusting attitude (also from fans). It’s not hard to be done with people after that, even if bough they think avoiding it makes it go away. It doesn’t!

My opinion really soured on Hyolyn after that, I thought I could still be a fan but seeing the PTSD bullying victims go through in recent times like with Mina from AOA and Minah from ILUV amongst others has really changed my mindset. It’s not as simple as hoping the former bully (specially if one is a bully during your middle and high school years where you’re grown enough to know better) grew up and learned from their mistakes like I naively thought. These people really need to make amends for the pain and stress they’ve caused.

I felt similar, I wanted to because I have so many positive memories of Sistar, but I can't overlook something like this. And I'm the kind of person who, once I'm done, that's it. My own experience with bullies is that they will never make amends because they're not sorry.

[identity profile] dior-chic.livejournal.com 2020-10-05 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly :( I can still enjoy her in Sistar but because she was just one part of it (albeit a big one). But solo yea I can’t excuse it anymore

[identity profile] fritterish.livejournal.com 2020-10-05 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Omg I didn’t know this! 😩😩

[identity profile] dior-chic.livejournal.com 2020-10-05 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
About Hyolyn? Sorry :(((

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.scmp.com/lifestyle/entertainment/article/3012225/k-pop-school-bullying-scandal-hyolyn-agrees-settlement-over

How she handled it, yes I’m over her. I was such a huge fan in 2018 of her solo work plus loving her in Sistar, but this put an end to that.

why don't I remember about Hyolyn?

Anyone who knows block b should not be surprised. Zico and him are absolute trash.

[identity profile] happypurinsu.livejournal.com 2020-10-04 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
Are people actually praising, or at least sympathizing with him? Really??

Bitch, please. This isn't even the bare minimum. He is trash to the core.

[identity profile] aeries-amethyst.livejournal.com 2020-10-05 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
You know how those shameless oppalogist fans are, no matter how bad oppa fucks up, he will always have sympathizers. Men can do the bare minimum and still get praised for it.

It is sickening how far some fans will go for their faves because he'll still have fans after all of this is over and done with.

[identity profile] snowphone.livejournal.com 2020-10-04 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
yikes. well i think it's helpful that he's at least admitting it's true. of course, that's just his public message, and i can't speak to how sincere he is.

[identity profile] goshipgurl.livejournal.com 2020-10-04 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Does Block B even have ONE decent member?

[identity profile] kcaomei.livejournal.com 2020-10-04 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
typical of a block b member to be garbage

[identity profile] daynr.livejournal.com 2020-10-04 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
some of these commentators are on point!

but also, I appreciate that he admits he was a d-ck and offered to apologize. No needs to accept it, or feel comfortable meeting him, but at least he isn't denying it.

[identity profile] fritterish.livejournal.com 2020-10-05 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
If you were injured by me, please contact me directly or through the company. I would like to apologize in person and ask for forgiveness.

Does that mean he had more victims?

I know it’s something he has done when he was young but the effects of bullying go so far....

[identity profile] petecarl.livejournal.com 2020-10-05 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Is anyone surprised that he was a bully? Remember his past lyrics where he was ablist and sexist? Kyung has clearly put in the work to grow, unlike Zico, but his axtions then were still wrong and people don't have to continue being his fan or forgive him just cause he's sorry now and admits to it.

[identity profile] myungung.livejournal.com 2020-10-05 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
it's kinda sad that acknowledging his bully past is something positive, when it should be the baseline. I can't comment if he did change or made actions to make himself a better person since I don't follow them, but let's hope he's sincere in making amends.

[identity profile] juhli.livejournal.com 2020-10-06 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
just as everyone was cheering for him about the sajaegi thing, this comes out
