[Breaking] Choa announces she is leaving AOA

• Choa said that she is suffering from insomnia and depression and she was taking medications to try and treat it, but it did not help


• After consulting with FNC Entertainment recently, it was decided that Choa would leave the group


• Choa says besides her individual activities that were already scheduled before her announcement of her withdrawal, she won't have any more


• Choa had been slowly scaling back the # of schedules she had for the past 2 years in an attempt to try and recover from insomnia/depression


• Choa said if negative thoughts continued to linger around her about her situation, it could harm the AOA members so she made the decision

such a bummer, but not surprised. as someone with depression, insomnia, and anxiety, hopefully she gets the proper treatment to control & care her depression & insomnia. self-care always comes first!

damn... not only was she the main vocalist but also one of the better liked members in the group, especially after the scandal with jimin and seolhyun. i wish her all the best but things are looking weird after that fnc statement, how could they not know she was going thru with this...

Eeeekk! I don't even like the group, but Choa was a queen so this will hit the group hard. It's sad to hear she has been suffering but i'm glad she is making the decision to look after herself first

I'm so sad, depression is fucking awful.
My heart's breaking for her and the other girls who had to watch her suffer without knowing how to help her, living like that for so long is no life at all. I wish her all the best, hope she gets better soon.

I can't imagine an AOA song without her voice, she was such an important part of the group. I don't know how, but I hope everything turns out ok for all 7 of them.

Yuna can sing and i think Hyejeong is not too bad either. I think their biggest worry should be public recognition since Choa was one of their more known (and liked) members. Jimin and Seolhyun are well known but their popularity with the public is mixed

:( poor Choa. I figured something was up with the last few months, especially the bizarre reasons they were giving for her absence. Even sadder (but realistic) knowing she's been dealing with this for years

It's overall sad for the group, but I'm more concerned about her health. I'm guessing Yuna may take over her parts/her role of the group continues.

i feel so bad for her. she struggled for so many years to become an idol, and now she's giving it up for her physical and mental health. she's the backbone of aoa. i will miss her so much 😭

i always imagined an amazing solo career for her but i guess she's retiring from the industry?

If leaving is the best for her health, I can do nohting but encourage and support her decision. Depression and insomnia are two hell of beasts to beat. I don't think AOA will survive for long without her though.

ia about the solo career thing. maybe she could take some time off the entertainment industry altogether and eventually make a comeback as a solo artist? idek if that's what she wants lol but she's got so much potential to do well
