idk, someone just commented on asianjunkie that they own the encyclopedia and this exact tattoo is in it. idk what book they mean since that particular one has 3 volumes and i'm sure there's other russian criminal tattoo books in existence.

Ffs, how difficult is a 30 second internet search for a translation when using a different language??? Google translate comes straight up with the meaning, and even a copy paste search of the Russian brings up a shit ton of hateful imagery. So easily avoidable.

yeah the funny thing is, if they did pull it from a book ... then it tells them exactly what it means!
i can't really think of any way to stumble across a drawing like that where it lacks context. even if it was just a picture of a dude ... like, anyone with any sense would know that tattoos in prisons probably have unsavory meanings behind them. it's astounding that the stylist (? or whomever) didn't think for like 3 seconds.

I just find it hard to get my head around 'oh yeah this book of Russian criminal [CRIMINAL] tattoos will totally be full of designs safe to put on our idols and there will definitely be no offensive content that no Russian speakers will pick up on!'. The level of lack of judgement is incredible. I hope TS get some serious flack for this.
