G-Dragon's Perfectionism Delayed His Music Video Release

Big Bang member G-Dragon released the music video for his song "A Boy" on Monday.

This is the fourth music video he is releasing from his first solo album following the videos for songs "Heartbreaker", "Breathe" and "Butterfly."

"We were going to release the video back when he had been promoting the song but G-Dragon requested to hold additional shoots for it so its release got delayed," his agency YG Entertainment said. The 21-year-old singer had promoted the song in mid-October.

YG went onto explain that they combined actual video of G-Dragon with 2D image for the music video, like was done for "Butterfly".

G-Dragon, currently in Japan to promote his group's third single, is set to hold his first solo concert titled "Shine A Light" at the Olympic Park on December 5 and 6.

The "Light" concert will feature performances from the singer and songwriter, plus a candid look into his 10-year journey turning from a YG trainee into the leader of boy band Big Bang.

I love GD's music. but honestly the mv seemed like he was there posing in different clothes with MASSIVE special animations and effects added in.

don't get me wrong, the mv's interesting to watch...for about the first third of it, after that it gets repetitive and boring :|
i liked his hair though, and it made me sad the video for this was less than stellar, because this is one of the songs from his album that i like

I need to watch the video subbed before I can say anything about it. I kinda get what the video's trying to convey though. Of the robots (or whatever they are) getting tied, the green apple turning red, etc. It's probably as lyrical as the Heartbreaker MV is, so I'll have to wait for the subbed version first ._.

It's understandable for us to judge the MV without knowing the actual lyrics since we don't know Korean but doing that doesn't do justice to what GD wants to show through the MV. It's like how several people thought that Heartbreaker had unnecessary sets, etc, when everything about the MV (even the colours used) expresses the lyrics.

Am I the only one that loved the MV? ^^; I've watched it several times now, and I love trying to work out the symbolism of everything. I feel like the MV is actually a pretty honest showing of who GD feels he is, it's just a matter of us plebs figuring out WTF he's trying to say. XD; I mean, it's a bit wanky and pretentious and pseudo-avant-garde, but I love it because it's all that.

Like, for example, I just noticed at 2:22 that there's clearly a Louis Vuitton-esque pattern in the background, but the background is sort of 'bleeding' and the pattern is that imitation LV one that crops up on handbags in China and stuff. If you want to get in depth, the LV pattern = GD and the 'fashionista' thing he's got going on, the use of the fake pattern over the real one could indicate that he feels it's a frontage/fake persona (or maybe that he just doesn't want to get sued) and the bleeding could show he thinks it's washing away, or something. Then that would tie on into the whole mask/rusted mask theme that crops up in the MV. I DON'T KNOW. But I'm having a blast exploring this video and theorising.

IKR. I adore this MV so much, I've been watching it over and over again.
There's just so many things to pick up on that you don't notice on a first viewing. Like the symbolism of the two sides of the robot mask, one polished and gleaming and the other rusted and damaged, is the two sides of fame, the joy and riches, and the pain and suffering. And then towards the end of the vid, after we see the fetus break out of the apple/heart, (he's still a boy at heart/inner child sorta thing), its when they lyrics are saying 'come back to me now' and 'go back; way back', and we see the damaged mask repair itself, its him looking to his past to like revitalise his current self or summin......
....and I'm gonna stop now lol, but I totally get you - I love analysing stuff like this and movies and poems lol... we're big nerds :D

to summarize, this MV is awesome. Haterz to da left.
